What do Amazon, General Electric and PWFAS have in common? They all collaborate with universities. It’s not just major corporations who are benefiting from strategic relationships with institutions of higher education, early-stage smaller companies can cultivate these relationships too. Generally, universities embrace these strategic relationships as they provide internship and employment opportunities for their students. Faculty members, students, alumni, and the businesses all share knowledge and provide networking opportunities that create mutual competitive advantages. PWFAS Family Archive Services is proud to have created a close relationship with The University of North Alabama (UNA) whereby each entity benefits from the resources and expertise of the other. We offer valuable opportunities for students to gain real world experience through internships, while in return, the University provides access to thought leadership, knowledge, expertise, and emerging talent. We would like our shared commitment to the local community to be an example of what can be achieved when small businesses engage with their local institutions of higher education. On a recent visit to UNA Philip Warner met with Brian Dempsey, Associate Professor of History and Chiong-Yiao Chen, Professor of Art to discuss further collaboration with their departments.

As a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington and a member of the Dean's Advisory Council at Purdue University I am especially proud to share an incredible program just launched by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation! This initiative, 100% FUNDED BY THE IEDC, helps Indiana's employers recruit college students and recent grads from across the state for full-time roles, summer internships, and other professional opportunities. This includes driving more applicants, assessing skills, engaging students with specific geographic ties, skills, grad dates... In fact, this program was designed and spearheaded by the IEDC's Tony Denhart based upon his own experiences leading University Recruiting at GE. Beyond creating an amazing talent pipeline, it also helps create equitable pathways from college-to-career and aligns to the work being done by Indiana's post-secondary institutions to support students and communities. I hope you can join us next week to learn more about this program! https://lnkd.in/e4V9g2XC

Last week, I had the privilege of sharing the Office of Experiential Learning's work at the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business during Pearson Higher Education's "From Classroom to Career" event. Did you know that nearly 50% of students get most of their career advice from their parents? Experiential learning can help! According to the Student Voice survey, 55% of students who participated in experiential learning, including internships, realized they wanted a career in that field. Are you interested in leading students towards a career you love? Contact us, and we can help you develop an experiential learning project to engage our undergraduate, master's, and MBA students! Let's help our students find their true calling. Source: https://lnkd.in/eV8nMYff #ExperientialLearning

Welcome to Another Week of Growth 📈 Undergraduate students - especially those in your first and second years - here's food for thought as you continue your educational journey. One thing you should remember is that while your CGPA is important, it doesn't wholly define your potential. A solid CGPA demonstrates commitment, the ability to meet deadlines, and handle pressure—key skills for any career. Equally important is using this time to explore and define your interests. 📍Why Your Academic Standing Matters ✔️ A strong CGPA opens doors to top internships, graduate programs, job opportunities with your dream companies and further studies in top schools. 📍Beyond Books, Forge Your Own Path Too ✔ Seek Opportunities to Self-Discover through volunteering, joining campus clubs, diverse internships and online courses. ✔ Build Your Network by attending events to meet mentors and make meaningful connections. Join groups and associations relevant to your interests Seizing these opportunities helps you uncover hidden passions and talents, giving your future career an exciting headstart and making you a well-rounded competitor in the job market. The future you will thank you. 💪🏾 Repost and share to benefit an undergrad!

UX Designer & Familia UKI BRG Founder/Lead @ IBM (Women of the Future Award Winner + Awarded LND Degree Apprentice of the Year)
Why is it so important to educate students about degree apprenticeships and internships? 🎓 Last night, I hosted an Instagram Live with Not Going To Uni, Joana Anderson Reyes (current Google apprentice) and Isha Ahmed (current architecture apprentice) We had 80+ people join us! 💭We tackled the myths around apprenticeships and internships, sharing real experiences and practical tips! 🤔Why is this important? Because educating students about their options empowers them to make informed decisions and opens doors to opportunities they might not have considered. Myths should not stop students from looking into different career paths. Missed it? DM me and I will send link to live recording Let’s keep spreading knowledge and breaking down barriers! 🌟 #ibm #google #interns #apprentice #education

Last week, the American Opportunity Index released a first-of-a-kind ranking of the top 50 employers that can offer recent high school graduates with the best pathway to a sustaining career and increased compensation. As traditional colleges falter in an evolving education and employment landscape, more Gen Z & Gen A are realizing the viability of jumping directly from high school to career training. And many brands are catching on, offering young employees a more flexible, and reactive education and training curriculum - one that not only leaves young people without debt, but also provides a much better chance of full time employment. 💡 One example? AT&T offering young people nano degree certifications, virtual internships, GEDs, and an internship program specifically for students from unique backgrounds and underrepresented communities. Last week, the Advisory Council was back on campus. It was great to reconnect with so many students and meet many more for the first time. We can’t wait to be back in September. If you’re a student, why should you care? 1) Industry insights – Your academic and experiential opportunities at UF are top notch. Through the Council, you also have access to industry leaders who want to support you, and who want to share their knowledge with you. 2) Vision for the future – You will help shape the future of the advertising industry. Why not talk to professionals who are shaping it today? 3) Mentoring – Council members travel to Gainesville each spring and fall because we want to have those real-world, real-time interactions with you. And, we’re all also very ready to connect with you virtually throughout the year. 4) Internships – This is where you can jumpstart your career, but competition can be fierce. Why not leverage your Council connections to give yourself a competitive advantage? 5) Jobs – We can help you hone your interview skills and build your professional network. And if we actually know you personally, we can even be a reference for you. We are here for you. If you have questions, please reach out. You can find our individual contact info on the department website (https://lnkd.in/evSNhSuP). Or, post your questions to the whole council right here on our LinkedIn page.

Never let your university or college name define you. I have seen so many students who are insecure about their university or college they have graduated from. They carry this insecurity for many years. A 3 hour exam with 180 multiple choice questions cannot define you as a person. The grad school application process and the university where you get in, cannot define you as a person. Human potential is way higher than that. A top university or college can open doors for you. But what happens after that door opens is entirely upto the hardwork you put in. That hardwork is independent of the college or university. If you are reading this: keep working hard, keep working on projects, internships, research publications. It does not matter in the long run which college you belong to. Human potential is way higher than a rank given based on fixed metrics.
