Meet the Partners! 8 Questions with Julie L Fife, PhD ...
1. Who is Julie Fife, in 5 words?
Honest, principled, passionate, driven, dedicated
2. Where is your favorite place on earth?
Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland or the West Coast of Scotland
3. What is your favorite food or drink?
Parisian baguette, still warm – there is nothing better.
4. What is your favorite part of working in this space?
Small businesses developing innovative products for healthcare applications have teams that are intelligent, insightful, and motivated, and working alongside these brilliant people – learning about their products and supporting their pursuit of non-dilutive funding – is my favorite part of the job.
5. What is your least favorite part of working in this space?
The proposal review process – we cannot always predict how humans may react to a proposal.
6. What is your favorite type of product to submit proposals for?
I love so many, but any product in the clinical stage is where we really start to see the potential impact of that product, so these are probably my favorite. They also tend to be the most challenging, so take from that what you will. 🙂
7. Why is ‘now’ the right time for your partnership with Bryan?
Bryan and I have complimentary skills that (together) identify, with high likelihood, projects that will be competitive for federal funding. We want to support products that, for one reason or another, may not be attracting (enough) investor support yet – and then help secure non-dilutive funding for these products. In our experience, this then opens up (additional) support from investors, and keeps potential commercialization on track. In the current funding environment, this support cannot be understated.
8. What is the one thing you want people to know about DeBusk & Fife, LLC?
We are a niche company – that means we want the projects that we work on to matter … and we want clients to feel like they matter as well.
