Gen Alpha are not only our emerging generation but already in our High Schools and Youth Groups. They are different to Gen Z with unique qualities and competencies.
Last week I had the privilege of supporting two 13 year old facilitators to plan, promote and host their very own Next Gen Leadership Training Conference for their year 6 and 7 cohorts.
It was amazing to see their ownership with recruiting a team of their fellow year 8 students to help facilitate the day's peer-to-peer program.
It's easy to wait until a 'certain age' or 'level of maturity' to give young people ownership, but I have found that ownership produces maturity.
The key is to identify which students are ready for the challenge and allow them time to brainstorm leadership factors in their world to come up with their own ideas (which will result in follow through of ownership).
Our goal is to support and provide action steps that empowers them to achieve their goals and outcomes whilst not shielding them from the realities of leadership...
GEN ALPHA is ready to take ownership! 💁♂️
Levi snaps a selfie with a few of his team members as they sort out final prep to run their year 6 NEXT GEN Leadership Conference in Tassie!
This one day event was planned, promoted, and hosted by a small team of year 8 students and completely led by their peer facilitators - Levi & Paige.
This was our VERY first GEN ALPHA led training conference with participants joining from local schools in the region.
They did an incredible job!
It's time to invite your year 7 & 8's to take the lead and be a positive influence to their peers...

“The Expansion From Managing To Leading”….
A key tenant which underpins the significant change that occurs as you let go of managing people and instead, start to lead others.
This program is essential for manageres and leaders who may well have the technical skills and expertise in a technology driven world, however, they lack the competence in the art and craft of human engagement and performance.
Getting the best from themselves and others through effective communication is an essential role of leaders and managers, and is often the reason many do not achieve what they hoped or were required to.
If you are genuinely committed to expanding your approach and impact from one of managing to leading, want to identify and define your leadership brand and looking to become the best version of yourself as a people leader, have a read/watch of this important post by Imperial College Executive Education.

Just like elite athletes need expert coaching, principals need intentional support to reach their full potential. But too often, new principals are thrown into overwhelming challenges without the training they deserve.
Our SXSW EDU proposal, "Empowering Principals for Transformational Leadership," led by Dr. Keli Swearingen and Dr. Lakita McKinney—former principals turned district coaches—dives into actionable strategies to amplify principal impact.
