Not all roads lead to #employment. For many, #entrepreneurship and #smallbusiness is a pathway to success. #AdultEducation providers should establish partnerships to provide support for as many opportunities as possible. #Workforce is not limited to working for someone. It can be an opportunity to contribute to the workforce through business ownership. #AdultEducationMatters #MoveAheadWithAdultEd #EducateAndElevateAdultEd
Student Success Story! Adult Education often lacks the funding for counselors and career guidance like you might find in K-12. Consequently, Adult Ed students miss out on receiving career and academic advising from qualified staff. This has been true for our students until recently. In 2023, our program had the opportunity to receive training from the National Career Development Association and this academic year we now have two qualified CCSPs to offer those services to our students. As a direct result of of our new service, one of our CCSPs, Rady Sharkova Foster, was able to help Anilu Hernandez- a student in our ESL program. Anilu was connected to trainings and resources and in September established her own business, A&S Sand and Gravel LLC! Rady most recently helped Anuli link up with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Women's Business Center (https://lnkd.in/grxZZgRP) who will help her in the success of her new business! #adulteducation #educateandelevate #okchispanicchamber

As we kick off National Volunteer Month, let's reflect on how we can break down barriers and ensure that every young person has the chance to make a difference. At Service Academy, we believe that meaningful service should be open to all, regardless of background or circumstance. By designing opportunities that meet young people where they are, we can help unlock their potential for impact. So, we want to hear from you: What can we do to make service more welcoming and achievable for all youth? Share your ideas in the comments! Together, let's build a world where every young person can lead through service. Learn more about our approach: https://lnkd.in/ekuSy4F8 - Ryan & Thomas Growney SG’24 #NewServiceAcademy Image description: The words "How can we create more inclusive and accessible service opportunities for young changemakers?" against a field of blue pennants.

From the "Paths of Opportunity: What It Will Take for All Young People to Thrive," here are some outstanding stats: - Only 3 in 10 young people experiencing poverty earn a living wage by age 30. - Strong academic outcomes raise the odds of earning a living wage to 6 in 10. - Improving academics alone can’t level the playing field. What's missing is you! Where are partnerships in providing internships, workforce development, STEAM support, and financial literacy skills? Step up! Our students need you! We can help to hook you up! [Link to learn more: https://lnkd.in/efrMHmDP] [Schedule a consultation: https://lnkd.in/dGrWsYaA]

If you're in an academic program that requires a lot of volunteer hours, like #internationalbaccalaureate, make the most of your time off by completing service hours over the summer. Spread out your requirements so that volunteering is something you do with goodwill. Do more with your volunteer hours by not only servicing your community but also developing your interests, broadening your resume, and enhancing your capstone, research, or independent projects. #collegeapplications #collegeapplicationseason #highschool #sat #application #highereducation #senior #educationmatters #onlinecourse #collegeadmissions #collegeprep #collegebound #admissions #studentsuccess #testprep #satprep #collegeready #admission #highschoolsenior #collegecounseling #collegecounselor #collegeadvice #collegeplanning #collegeapps #collegeessay #collegeapplication #collegepreparation #collegetips #applyingtocollege #collegeadvisor

A few weeks ago, I had the privileged of being able to speak with Livia Scott from Wonkhe for the Membership Services Show about Undeb Aberystwyth's collaboration with Aberystwyth University Careers Service. In the podcast, I talk about: ► How utilising the University's 'ABERForward' employability scheme has 'changed the game' for us. ► Utilising recent graduates as staff can add real value for SUs: they have already gone through the 'whole student experience'. ► 'Micro placements' (e.g. Via Aberystwyth's Career Readiness Support) can be an effective tool for SUs to get quality student engagement.

Those seeking to get rich from #TxEd use the pseudonym "#SchoolChoice" for the #VoucherScams & #CharterSchoolPerks they try to ramrod through the #TxLege. Props to #FortWorthISD: Let's remind our communities that our #TexasPublicSchools offer school choice with #SchoolsOfChoice & #ProgramsOfChoice!

Islamic School Principals know they don’t really get a summer-long break. Here is an excerpt from a great article about best practices in summer for school principals. What is your favorite part about prepping for the school year? “August: Prepare, Connect, and Welcome Preparation for the New Academic Year Prepare Classrooms and Facilities: Ensure classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and other facilities are clean, well-stocked, and ready for use. Staff Meetings: Hold meetings to communicate the school’s goals, expectations, and any new procedures or policies. Building Connections Connect with Parents: Start the year on a positive note with a ‘welcome back’ newsletter or video message to parents. Community Outreach: Strengthen the school’s relationship with the community by organizing an open house or a community service event. Welcoming Teachers and Students Welcome Back Event for Teachers: Host a social event for the teachers before school begins to foster a sense of camaraderie.
