How do you build out your multifaceted content operation using a tech stack? Your Digital ecosystem, incoming and outgoing connections, integrations and other software are part of your ‘tech stack’. Implementing a DAM into that tech stack can be powerful in enhancing your offerings, and refining your workflow and content structure. Still, a DAM is only as powerful as its ability to connect to the rest of your tools. The goal of implementing a DAM should revolve around free-flowing information, pulling content to and from your DAM, in and out of creative suites, past a project management tool, through an approval process, and then back into the DAM for external and internal sharing. When building a use case for a DAM to be included as part of your tech stack, you should consider the following questions: How do we increase adoption by our users? Will it improve our workflow? Can it shorten delivery times? How will it improve comms? It needs to enhance data quality! Will we see it increase productivity? Does it offer convenience? A DAM operation can sometimes feel like 10% technology, 90% process: - Process for requesting an account - Process for creating user accounts - Process for removing user accounts - Process for onboarding & training new users - Process for uploading assets - Process for approving assets - Process for versioning assets - Process for deleting assets - Process for adding metadata to assets - Process for adding new terms to controlled vocabularies - Process for changing the layout of a page - Process for updating group/user permissions - Process for updating to a new version of the system - Process for validating system updates - Process for creating a roadmap - Process for getting feedback from users - Process for making updates based on user feedback - Process for reporting bugs - Process for asking for help finding what you need in the system - Process for helping users - Process for asking for help from the vendor - Process for communicating upcoming changes to stakeholders - Process for getting funding - Process for creating policies - Process for creating process - Process for communicating process - Process for updating process And that's a shortlist.
