Exciting developments in aviation technology! A pioneering €2 million research project, SMARTS, funded by Horizon Europe, is set to transform air travel by employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to redesign flexible airspace sectors. This innovative project, driven by a collaboration of experts from CRIDA, Lancaster University, and other notable institutions, is utilizing machine learning and advanced algorithms to reshape how airspace is managed. The goal? To dramatically reduce passenger delays, enable shorter flight paths, decrease emissions, and lighten the load for air traffic controllers. Imagine an air travel system that's not just efficient but also adaptable to real-time demands, paving the way for smoother flights and enhanced passenger experiences. With the aviation sector poised for growth, this initiative couldn't be timelier. As we embrace a future where technology and sustainability go hand in hand, projects like SMARTS highlight how AI can be a game-changer in addressing some of the most pressing challenges in air travel. #AviationInnovation #ArtificialIntelligence #AirTravel #SustainableAviation #FutureOfTravel

✈️🤖 I recently read an intriguing article on International Airport Review about a €2 million AI project revolutionizing air travel efficiency. It's spearheoded by CRIDA A.I.E. under the Horizon Europe-funded SMARTS initiative, with several European organizations contributing. The project's aim is to reshape airspace sectors using AI, machine learning, and mathematical modeling. This will hopefully reduce passenger delays, enable shorter flights, cut emissions, and lighten the load for air traffic controllers. Initiated in late 2023 and set to run until 2026, it's poised to significantly impact on air travel. #AIResearch #AirTravelInnovation #AIinAviation #SustainableFlying #FutureOfAirTravel #AviationTech

What new opportunities does Earth Observation and AI offer for cultural heritage resilience? On 8th October, the EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme UCP will bring together experts to discuss how space technologies are supporting the tourism and cultural heritage sectors. The event will explore practical ways these tools are helping us monitor climate risks, discover sites, and measure the impact of tourism. I’ll be sharing a case study from ArchAI, where we use AI and Earth Observation data to map archaeological sites and support decision making for site protection. It’s part of a broader discussion on how technology can contribute to the long-term resilience of cultural heritage. If you’re interested in how technology and heritage intersect, this event will offer some useful insights. #EarthObservation #CulturalHeritage #AI #RiskReduction #EUSPA #SpaceTech https://lnkd.in/e5Sem56q
