📊 The Status of Women in Finance on International Women's Day📊 On this International Women's Day💜, it is imperative to delve into the statistical landscape of women in finance, shedding light on both their impactful contributions and the persistent challenges they face in climbing the leadership ladder. 1. Executive Representation: - As of the latest data in 2023, women hold a modest 20% of executive positions in the finance sector globally. This figure underscores the existing gender disparity in leadership roles within financial institutions. 2. Compensation Disparities: - Studies reveal a concerning pay gap persists in finance. On average, women in finance earn approximately 76 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. This financial divide emphasizes the urgency for equitable compensation practices. 3. This statistic underscores the need for targeted efforts to promote women into decision-making positions. 4. Bridging this gap is pivotal for fostering innovation and economic growth. 5. Representation in Fintech: - Despite the dynamic nature of the fintech sector, women are underrepresented. In fintech companies, women constitute only 29% of the workforce, and a mere 12% hold executive positions. Addressing this gender gap is crucial for driving innovation in the rapidly evolving financial technology landscape. 6. Progression in Academia: - In academia, where thought leadership often shapes industry practices, women hold only 26% of full professor positions in finance-related disciplines. Enhancing gender diversity in academia is essential for influencing future generations of financial professionals. 7. Gender Diversity's Impact on Profitability: - Companies with gender-diverse executive teams are 21% more likely to outperform their counterparts in profitability. This statistic underscores the correlation between gender diversity in leadership and financial success. 🚀 Empowering Women Through Education & Skills Development 🚀 In our journey toward gender equality and fostering inclusive economic growth, one of the most powerful levers we have is the education and skill development of women. 📚💼 Investing in women's education isn't just the right thing to do; it's a catalyst for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic prosperity. Quality education, vocational training, and access to lifelong learning opportunities are not mere benefits but necessities that equip women with the skills needed to excel in today's labor market and adapt to its future changes. Here’s why we must focus on educating and skilling women: Higher-paying Jobs: Education opens doors to opportunities that were once considered unreachable. Women equipped with the right skills can secure better-paying positions, contributing to reducing the gender pay gap. Entrepreneurship: Knowledge and skills are the bedrocks upon which women can build businesses, fostering innovation and creating jobs. Competitive Labor Market: In the rapidly changing job market, continuous learning ensures women can adapt, thrive, and lead in new industries and roles. Economic Growth: Women's economic participation fuels broader economic growth, creating a ripple effect that benefits everyone. Let’s commit to breaking down the barriers to education and skill development for women. By doing so, we're not just empowering women; we're driving forward our communities, economies, and future generations. 🌍 Together, we can create a world where every woman has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. #GenderEquality #EconomicEmpowerment #EducationForAll #SkillDevelopment #InclusiveGrowth

Empowering Women in Finance: A Shift Towards Inclusion & Literacy 👩💼 Recent studies spotlight a significant trend: women are increasingly taking center stage in investment and finance, not just in the USA but globally. Here's a distilled view of their growing influence: 1. Joint Decision Making: Women are increasingly sharing financial decisions with their partners, stepping into a realm traditionally dominated by men. 2. The Power of Financial Literacy: A higher level of financial literacy among women correlates with smarter, more informed investment choices. It's clear: empowering women with financial knowledge is key to unlocking their investment potential 📚💡. 3. Investment Strategies & Risk: Women's naturally more cautious approach to investing may lead to safer, albeit sometimes lower-return, investment choices. Recognizing this risk aversion is crucial in developing investment strategies that align with women's preferences 📉. 4. Distinct Investment Patterns: Studies reveal gender-specific investment behaviors and risk perceptions, emphasizing the need for investment strategies that cater to these differences for better outcomes. 5. Impact of Women on Boards: The role of women on corporate boards presents a complex picture, with varying impacts on company performance and stock returns. 6. Financial Inclusion for Women: Advancing women's financial inclusion is essential for their economic empowerment, contributing to broader economic growth and gender equality. As a woman in finance, I'm inspired by these findings and committed to fostering an environment where women's insights, leadership, and financial empowerment are valued and promoted. #WomenInFinance #FinancialLiteracy #Investment #Leadership #GenderEquality #Empowerment #Avestix #AVXI

Get engaged 💍 with your super. One relationship you will never regret is the one you build with your superfund. It’s long term.
At an online student event last week, I was asked: “As an advocate for women in financial advice, what strategies would you recommend for female financial advisers to succeed in their careers?” Here are 3 things I shared for female students: 👠 First, this isn’t supposed to be a recruitment drive, BUT… With only 1 in 4 financial advisers being women, great news, when you apply for a job you’ll likely stand out. There is certainly a shift towards embracing diversity and you are a BIG part of that future. 💄 Second, we have a strong and welcoming community for women. Whether its Women in Super, or the FAAA Inspire events, get involved. Here, women are very supportive of each other, and you will meet people that will be in your corner throughout your career. 💃🏻 And last, but certainly not least. Be open with your partner early on in your relationship. Its 2024. You can have a career AND be a parent if that’s what you want. It’s not one or the other anymore. #CareersForWomen #WomenInWealth #WomenInFinance #FinancialPlanning #WomenInSuper **On the land of the Boonwurrung people of the Kulin nation.**

Why Do Women Invest Less Than Men? The Gender Investment Gap As we kick off the new financial year, let’s confront the Gender Investment Gap head-on. Despite progress in many areas, women still trail behind men in investments. Why? 1️⃣ Financial Literacy: Schools taught us a lot, but financial literacy wasn’t on the syllabus. 2️⃣ Pay Gap: Women earn less, leaving them with fewer funds to invest. 3️⃣ Knowledge and Confidence: Many women feel they lack these, shying away from the stock market. 4️⃣ Risk Aversion: Women often have lower financial risk tolerance, opting to stash money in banks or invest in gold. Holding onto cash isn’t the answer. Inflation eats away its value, making non-investment a loss. The Change Starts Here - 1️⃣ Shift Attitudes: Investing isn’t rocket science; it’s a path to wealth generation. 2️⃣ Start Small: Begin with modest sums. Treat it as a learning journey. 3️⃣ Research and Consult: Find what works best, seek guidance from financial experts. Research proves that once women start investing, they perform just as well as men. Financial independence fuels empowerment.
