Launching a new team is hard work. Here's why you should not give up. It takes a massive amount of fuel to launch a rocket into space. The Falcon 9 from Space X uses 902,793 pounds of fuel to break the Earth's gravitational pull. Once the rocket is free conditions change and moving forward takes less effort. Similarly, launching a new team requires a tremendous amount of energy. It takes hard work to break free of the forces holding you down. Kickoff meetings get you off the ground. But real progress happens when the team commits to ways of working, holding one another accountable, and defines success. The question is - Does your team have the fuel to power through the forces that threaten to pull you back down? This upfront investment of energy isn't easy, but it pays off.

Focus on a single metric helped this chief engineer turn his start-up into a US$180B company. Love him or hate him, Elon Musk has got this dialed in.  Get your team focused on a simple metric, and the rest will follow. Through trust you reach a place where you can exploit opportunities, respond to failures, and make every second count. As gigantic as the machine was, and as puny as we human were measured against its towering bulk, the human factors balanced the technology on the scale. This happens because they actively employ public relations. But the space industry is much bigger! There are 10,000 companies operating in the market. Seraphim Capital tracks 800+ space startups. There are 10 space unicorns. Over 100 companies have raised Series A+ funding. More than 70 countries have aerospace agencies. You don't known about them because they don't actively promote themselves. You probably won't immediately remember what the European Space Agency, Boeing, or Airbus do in the space sector.
