“Fantastic use of #VR.” “Carl Sagan would be proud.” "An IMAX-quality experience delivered right into your home." 🌌✨ #OVERVIEW is an awakening #VR #documentary about the scale of our Solar System, but it is much more than a beautiful journey; it's a space adventure crafted with astronomers, astrophysicists, educators, and even astronauts, for all the curious minds out there. 🔭 “We didn't settle for just a visually stunning virtual reality – we aimed for a scientifically accurate odyssey. From the 8 planets to about 800,000 asteroids, OVERVIEW's celestial bodies are in their rightful places and perfectly to scale, and it is no small feat. Fueled by data from ESA’s Hipparcos and NASA’s Solar System Dynamics group, accuracy is at the core of our design,” explains Amaury Solignac. 📡 As we break the speed of light (virtually, of course!) to move around the Universe, the sheer vastness of the cosmos is where virtual reality reaches its full potential. OVERVIEW allows you to grasp the immensity of our Milky Way, unveiling its beauty and intricacies right from your home! Grab OVERVIEW from your favorite VR application store (Meta, Viveport, Steam), or contact us about multi-user licenses (schools, museums, exhibitions etc). 🌎 OVERVIEW EFFECT OF THE WEEK 🌎 We had such a great time talking all things VR with Overview Effect proponent Dr. Annahita Nezami, on last month’s #HOOP, that we thought we’d take this week’s OE of the Week to shout out her VR program, Earthscape VR. While we LOVE sending as many people to space as we can, not needing to become an astronaut to experience the Overview Effect, is a really handy thing, and we’re all for it! Thanks to Earthscape VR, you can immerse yourself in a virtual reality simulation that recreates aspects of this amazing phenomenon. Earthscape VR uses state-of-the-art VR technology, soundscapes, and psychological principles to give you a fully immersive experience of being in space. You will see Earth as a whole, without borders or boundaries, and feel a new perspective on your place in the cosmos. Now that we think of it, we should have asked for a session… for research purposes. Check out our HOOP w/ Dr. Nezami on our feed 🌎 Cover Image Courtesy of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration / Video Courtesy of Earthscape VR #S4H #Space4Humanity #spaceforhumanity #2Space4Earth #tospaceforearth #OverviewEffect #theovervieweffect #HumanSpaceflight #SpaceIsForEveryone #CitizenAstronaut #CA #CAP #EarthscapeVR #VR #SpaceTechnology #SpaceExploration #VirtualReality #SpaceExperience #HumanPerspective #SpaceImmersion #HOOP

🚀 What if… the NASA #Apollo program had not ended in 1975? Uncover the answer through "Moon Expedition", a realistic adventure set on the Moon! 🌌 “I am a hard sci-fi enthusiast, and our approach as a VR studio is to make each immersion hyper realistic. Just like in the ‘For All Mankind’ uchronia, we used a historic starting point and then we branched out to propose a new Apollo missions narrative,” explains Amaury Solignac. 🎮 The result, an epic #VR experience, has been a sensational adventure so far! We are putting the finishing touches on a fully-playable segment, collaborating with trusted partners for motion capture, post production and soundtrack creation. We are eager to share this vertical slice with game publishers! 🌠 “With the #Artemis missions facing delays, we aim to offer a cultural and intellectual exploration of the Apollo program, beyond the historical photography and broadcasts. Our mission as a VR studio is to make sure our users are immersed in the reality of that time, in a playful but authentic way,” notes Amaury. Curious to learn more about this out-of-this-world experience? 🌕 #MoonExpedition #VirtualReality #ApolloMissions #SpaceAdventure #VRStudio

VR on Mars invites players on celestial missions that channel their inner clean freak! Immersing young players in new environments teaches fundamental STEM lessons while harnessing the power of play. The total submersion through a VR technology result in enhanced learning and retention because the educational component is rooted in skill-based and context-based activity. Dust storms and solar flare-ups are frequent and quite harsh on Mars, and in order to replicate these cosmic events we needed to prototype the ways to remove caked-on red dust from various 3D objects. The planetary environment was created in Blender and enhanced in Unity, including the gale-force wind-walls and red earth that makes Mars so charming. 🌀 Had this been a real dust storm with a real space station, we'd reach out for help to one of the tech Billionaires who call the Red Martian home! Mars seems delightful, let’s all try to go there! 🔴 #whiteglovetest #mars #dustbowl #solarpanels #3drendering #particleshader #blender

6 months in space – what an experience! 👨🚀 Andreas Mogensen is coming back to Earth today, after half a year on the #internationalspacestation . Flying to space is an experience only a handful of people can experience now, but what if there was a way to experience the flight, like Andreas Mogensen? 🚀 We have created a virtual reality experience of flying inside a capsule, recreating the flight from the International Space Station back to Earth. Andreas Mogensen himself took part in the project and is one of the astronauts that is with you inside of the Russian Soyuz capsule (which is recreated 1:1). Of course, all the people who tried the experience returned safely to Earth. 🌍 Want to know more? You can read about it here: https://lnkd.in/dExBbhHq If you would like a demo, or want the experience for your own use, feel free to reach out to Michael Harboe, Jens Lauritsen or Nadja Jul Dahl. ✨ #internationalspacestation #vr #experiences #space #spaceflight

An 11-ton time machine.. DESI’s components are designed to automatically point at preselected sets of galaxies, gather their light, and then split that light into narrow bands of color to precisely map their distance from Earth and gauge how much the universe expanded as this light traveled to Earth. In ideal conditions, DESI can cycle through a new set of 5,000 galaxies every 20 minutes. By repeatedly mapping the distance to the many millions of galaxies and quasars across one-third of the area of the sky over the past five years, DESI is teaching us more about dark energy and the history of the universe. Our present understanding is that gravity slowed the rate of expansion in the early universe, but dark energy has since accelerated its expansion. DESI’s overall precision on the expansion history across all 11 billion years is 0.5%, and the most distant epoch—covering 8-11 billion years in the past—has a record-setting precision of 0.82%. That measurement of our young universe is incredibly difficult to make. https://lnkd.in/dfcfAYdC

NASA's Virtual Reality Workstation, 1992. For everyone saying VR is "new" and "untested" in education: This image might shock you. It shows NASA engineers using VR tech over 30 years ago. While we've traded those bulky gloves for sleek controllers, the core idea remains unchanged: immersive, hands-on learning that transcends physical limitations. Next time someone claims VR is an unproven educational tool, show them this. Sometimes, the future is older than we think. And hey, if it's good enough for rocket science, it's probably good enough for your classroom. Just saying. 😉 #vrineducation #virtualreality #nasa #edtech

Are you curious about the future of home assistants? The question I really have is of whether the first generation of home assistants will be fully automated with AI (Robot & Frank) or have the add-on for telepresence as Valkyrie does? To me this is a fascinating question about human interaction. Consider the possibilities for the next generation of smart home devices, if you can ask for a real human to do complex tasks at home, assistive care or visit far-away family using VR and haptics. I’m sure this will be the plot of some techno-thriller or a burglary/heist plot story someday. Do we have a space for mixed control? What do you think? #futuretech #AI #telepresence #smarthome
