All major public BioPharma companies have reported Q2 results - here's a look behind the world's 10 top-selling medicines: Merck's oncology king Keytruda continues to deliver remarkable growth for a product its size - defying the law of large numbers. Keytruda recently achieved a milestone approval for its 40th indication - advanced/recurrent endometrial carcinoma. Keytruda accounted for a whopping 45% of Merck's total revenue in the quarter. The company continues to build out its pipeline ahead of an expected 2028 LOE in the US, and 2031 in Europe. In the GLP-1 space, Eli Lilly and Company continues to gain on Novo Nordisk, with Mounjaro sales more than tripling from the prior year, achieving ~75% of the levels of Ozempic. Given stronger weight loss efficacy with Tirzepatide compared to Semaglutide, and Lilly's strong investments in production, Mounjaro (and Zepbound) will continue to gain share. That said, the market is clearly large enough for both to enjoy substantial success for many years to come. AbbVie's results are also notable - thanks to Skyrizi and Rinvoq, it has managed to compensate for the decline in Humira sales post LOE. In fact, Skyrizi gained almost the same amount of net sales as Humira lost in the quarter. Johnson & Johnson's Stelara will face US competition in 2025. However, the company has worked to position Tremfya as a potential successor, and has had success in that regard, with results earlier this year showing Tremfya outperformed Stelara in Phase 3 trials for Crohn's disease. However, this segment of the immunology space remains highly competitive, with AbbVie's Skyrizi going head to head against Stelara in Crohn's disease as well. #pharma #biotech

TG Therapeutics, Inc. stock broke out of two bases today and hit its highest point since July 2023. The company sells Briumvi, a treatment for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. It's going up against Roche's Ocrevus. Both are intravenous infusions -- requiring an hour and at least two hours, respectively. But the companies are working on subcutaneous, or under-the-skin shot, versions of their drugs. That sets up a new battle. Roche is expected to gain its Ocrevus subcutaneous approval in September. Competition in the inflammatory bowel disease drug development space is intensifying with recent acquisitions and advancements. Eli Lilly and Company's $3.2 billion buy-out of oral competitor Morphic Therapeutic is challenging Takeda's injectable #Entyvio. Morphic's MORF-057, currently in phase 2 development for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, aims to control intestinal inflammation by constraining α4β7, an integrin in white blood cells. Moreover, Ensho Therapeutics acquired a phase 2-ready oral α4β7 candidate from EA Pharma (Eisai Co., Ltd.’s GI subsidiary), adding to the competition faced by #Entyvio. While Morphic's stock surged initially, subsequent challenges led to a decrease, eventually enabling Lilly's premium offer. Data from Morphic's phase 2b trial in ulcerative colitis is expected in early 2025, shedding more light on the evolving landscape. We are delighted to announce that we will receive the second Re𝜏ain-related milestone payment of CHF 24.6 million under the agreement with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company.   The fact that this payment comes earlier than expected is very gratifying as it is based on the rapid rate of pre-screening in the potentially registrational Re𝜏ain Phase 2b clinical trial in preclinical Alzheimer’s disease.   The Re𝜏ain trial is testing the hypothesis that ACI-35.030 has a disease-modifying effect that can delay or prevent the onset of cognitive impairment in individuals with pre-symptomatic AD through inhibition of seeding and spreading of pathological Tau. https://lnkd.in/emF6SYEE #Alzheimers #activeimmunotherapy #precisionmedicine #prevention
