The Industrialized Usage of Generative AI – My Point of View: Generative AI and especially ChatGPT are dominant topics in every business meeting and at almost every lunch table. It might be the fastest and most impactful innovation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and some already predict a new era comparable to the internet back in the 2000’s. However, the real value will come from the industrialized usage of GenAI in enterprise business processes. Labor arbitrage, process excellence and automation helped to realize some 30-50% cost savings already. But the big disruption and predicted replacement of human workers by technology never materialized. Will Generative AI change the world of industrialized business processes? We are 18 months into GenAI and ChatGPT being publicly available. Our dedicated SPS B2B-systems, hosted in the private cloud in Switzerland, have been operational for about 6 months. However, we are still lacking scalable life cases in the industry. Wile the initial progress might be slower than expected, we are likely to see further exploding investments and improved Large Language Models (LLMs), even though this might not be sufficient to run critical business processes standalone. For instance, processing payments requires more than ChatGPT's ability in "guessing" the amount in various formats (100,00 or 100.00 or 100, - or 100 or -100- or hundred or…). It demands an accuracy and quality of 95-99% at the field level without hallucinations. This level of quality assurance is something SPS is investing in together with workflow tools and prompting skills. I am convinced that GenAI can reshape the BPS industry. The developments are tremendous, but the involved ethical and legal risks need to be managed simultaneously. In our industry it is not about a game you have to win; it’s about the game you play! You always need to get better; this is what continuous improvement is all about. Consequently, it is our mission at SPS to be the thought leader in the industrialized usage of GenAI in Business Processing – with energy, passion, investments and realism. Despite technological advances, human interaction and in-depth process expertise remains crucial in all complex business processes. Simple transactions are automated already. This journey will continue. But the moments that truly matter will still require a human touch. With rising expectations, customers are not only looking for fixes and answers, but understanding and engagement to be positively surprised. For Enterprises this is a unique opportunity for up- and cross-selling.   It is all about People + Processes + Technology! People in the right places in the world -on-, near- and offshore. Process excellence and vertical specific know how, as well as a mix of technology and tools customized to address specific business problems. Having seen the developments in BPS over the last 30 years, I am really excited about the great things to come!
