The problem is the implementation, specially in rural areas.

I see so many comments here about how great this is, but implementation will be the true test. And I have to say, seeing the work that the first lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Maada Bio, is so committed to, I am very hopeful that we will see real implementation of this bill. I have hope and faith that it will not just be talk. Congrats to Sierra Leone and the girls that will be saved by this historic bill!

Some of the girls in our programs at Global G.L.O.W. helped advocate for this to become a reality!!! It's so exciting!!!

Excellent news that the bill has passed but I hope the implementation of the bill is also strategised. All the best

Reversing low rates of schooling to provide alternate paths for girls will be the key to seeing this bill take hold in practice and wider registration of births in rural Sierra-Leone will be needed to make it enforceable. Praying necessary supports will be put in place to deter early marriage across the country. This is a great step to getting there.

We congratulate Sierra Leone for saying NO to early child marriages.

The thought of consideration certainly counts. May no more children be forced into the practice.

This is an important step forward. I believe that as we have more authentic feminine leaders at all levels and in all sectors around the globe that bills like this will be enforced and our young girls and women will be valued and respected for the amazing persons that they are!

It’s a great step taken by the government and much appreciated. However the key key is on the rollout mechanism of the policy to the target beneficiaries. Most of government in developing nations have developed very innovative policies, however most of the time these policies remain on paper & for national & international conferences with almost little to nothing at impact level!
