This is one of the biggest lessons I’ve had has a founder. You expect everyone to see your insight as clear as day as you do, but often, this isn’t the case, and it can feel lonely at times. Airbnb, Uber, and even HubSpot are examples of ideas that were non consensus in the very beginning. As Mike suggests - find the few people who obsess over the idea as much as you and co-create along side them.

Had a blast recording my first in-person podcast with Brentom Todd on the BeAtento Podcast. We jammed on all things Forum, discussing into how our venture studio operates, and dove deep into the intricacies of budgeting when building your MVP in today's tight early-stage startup market. 💰 Here's the lowdown: While a minor pre-seed can still be secured pre-revenue, raising a larger pre-seed typically demands some revenue already on the table. Too often, founders aim for a modest pre-seed, only to struggle when seeking more significant funding without substantial revenue (think 10K+ ARR). So, when sketching out your financial roadmap, factor in not just the MVP construction costs but also the extra funds needed to fix bugs, make tweaks, and introduce a couple of new features that customers need to extract the true value of the platform. This post-launch refinement is often necessary before gaining meaningful traction. 👉 The trick? Be extremely strategic! If it’s going to cost $300K to build that first MVP, you probably need to raise $500K+.
