At Organ Donation & Transplant Association of America (ODTAA), we understand that discussing the topic of organ donation with family can be difficult. It is important to be prepared for their response. There may be pushback as this can be uncomfortable. Hopefully, they will be open to explore. Stress that it is better to have these discussions and your wishes be known than for a family to wonder and possibly regret a decision later. What do I need to do about Organ Donation? The law on organ and tissue donation changed in the UK in May 2020 and it will be considered that you agree to become an organ donor unless you opt out. So, if this something you really DO NOT want, it is up to you to register your decision on the Organ Donor website. This is often another topic that can cause upset and distress for relatives as the decision to harvest organs and tissue has to made very quickly after a person dies. You making the decision while you are able to and making that decision known, can prevent that. #20days20questions #SecureYourFuture #EstatePlanning #endoflifeplanning
