As a leader, you can win all the awards, get all the fancy titles, and have your name cited in the media until the cows come home… But nothing feels as incredible as watching your team hit their targets and crush it - with clear metrics to back it up. When you take a group of people with raw talent, heart and hustle and give them challenges to stretch toward, you’d be amazed how often they can pull off even what seems impossible and unlikely. And the best part is knowing that’s the tone you help set as a leader, so that a team can understand for themselves just how much they are capable of. That is the culture of motivation, achievement and pride in performance that I believe every team deserves to experience. There is simply no greater feeling in business than this. 🙌

Great leaders have a genuine interest in others. They have a desire to build a relationship with their team, to know the people working with them, and to encourage everyone on their team to be the best they can be.

Leadership, Integrity, and Respect in the Workplace Experience in any sector, including Public Service, is invaluable. However, it's important to acknowledge that along the way, we might have encountered situations involving less-than-transparent practices. Growth comes from recognizing those moments and committing to a higher standard moving forward. True leadership is not about diminishing your team. The position you hold today is temporary. One day, you will move on, and the junior officers you lead today will step into those roles, potentially for the rest of their careers. That’s why it’s essential to uplift and respect your team. Appreciate your junior officers for the value they bring, knowing that their success reflects your leadership. A strong, empowered team is the foundation of a lasting legacy.
