🌟 How I got an interview with Credit Suisse in an elevator? In the previous articles I shared about my failures. 🏆 Allow me to celebrate a small win this time 🤣 This event happened 10 years ago: 📈 I was invited to the final round interview with Deutsche Bank – Summer Analyst Program at their Asset & Wealth Management department. After I finished my interview, I was waiting for the lift to leave the DB office. ⏰ When I got inside the lift and was about to close the door A guy rushed into the lift and I opened the door for him He thanked me I said you are welcome and I told him I was not in a rush because I just finished my final round interview with DB (As I assumed that he also worked at DB and could be my future colleague if I got an offer!) ⏰ Then he asked me how did the interview go and we chatted briefly inside the lift. When the lift arrived the ground floor, he passed me his name card. 💡 Turns out – He worked at Credit Suisse Private Bank as a Director and he was at the DB office for a meeting with them!! I was shocked as I assumed he was from DB all along. Then he asked if I applied to Credit Suisse or not. ⚡ I answered no because there wasn’t a summer analyst program for private banking for undergraduates. ⚡ Back in 2014, CS would only hire MBA Summer Analysts instead. Then he mentioned that his Hong Kong team was planning to hire a contract analyst and asked me if I was interested. Luckily – I had my CV with me and passed to him immediately - assuming my interview with DB failed in the end. ☕ 2 Weeks later, I met with him and his team member. The rest is history. Lesson of the story: ✅ Always have your CV readily available – on your phone or on your bag ✅ Always be nice to others as you don’t know whom you will run into a lift ✅ Never make assumptions!!! ⌛ When was the last time you ran into an opportunity? ⌛ What kind of opportunity was it? ⌛ What was your latest success story? ⌛ Feel free to comment below to share your success story! 13 years ago I made my first placement Back in 2011, I began with a placement that set the tone for my career—an AVP in Market Risk at Credit Suisse. How time flies! 📈 Since then, the industry has evolved, but the thrill of matching the right talent to the right role remains unchanged. It's been a journey of constant learning and adapting. Here's what I've learned: ✔ Networking is KEY. It's about who you know, and more importantly, who knows you. ✔ Always add value. Whether it's market insights or career advice, make sure you're providing something useful. ✔ Change is inevitable. Adaptability is not a skill but a necessity in this fast-paced sector. In reflection, it's not just about the placements, but the lives and teams transformed along the way. For those just starting: stay resilient, build relationships, and remember, every placement is part of a bigger picture. 🔗 Stay connected for more insights and don't forget to follow RAW Search for the latest job opportunities. #RecruitmentJourney #CareerMilestones #RAWSearch #risk #creditsuisse

Job hunt 2024 week 5 A different kind of selfie today. It's been a positive and most importantly varied week for me this week. I've spoken to recruiters, fellow job seekers, journalists and a lot of ex Credit Suisse people. I didn't go to university, by the time my friends had graduated I'd worked at Co-op bank, Nomura and HSBC. In later years when visiting college towns here and in the US I'd see people in their college branded clothing and felt like I'd missed out on that feeling of belonging to a great institution and the long lasting camaraderie I imagine comes from it. What I'd not realised until now is that's exactly what I have with Credit Suisse. I've spoken to people I worked with for 20 years. I've been contacted by people who were very senior that I'd spoken to once or twice before. Out of the blue people from other teams have told me they mentioned me to their boss for a role at their current company. The list goes on. Credit Suisse people look out for each other. Thanks to all of you. I wanted to post a picture of my Credit Suisse cufflinks but sadly the contents of my pedestal were lost at some point last year. So you got the pic I saved of my access card. How are the stats looking? 78 jobs applied for, 22 responses, 2 interviews Another interview this week, and like last week's some issues around location. I'm hoping we can iron that out as it's an excellent opportunity at a firm I'd love to work for so fingers crossed. Other than that, I did a bunch of programming, designed a logo for my 'company', read a lot (Think Again by Adam Grant) and beat a bunch of other crypto nerds in a poker tournament. Have a great weekend #jobhunting #jobhunt #creditsuisse #programming #itleadership #poker #tradinganalysis #tradingstrategy #tradingtechnology #algorithmictrading #python #hireme #teamlead #developmentmanager #productmanager

In 2014 I graduated from UCL and started my career with Credit Suisse’s Equity Trading Operations team. If you had told me back then that within 10 years CS would be acquired by UBS, I certainly would never have believed you. The financial services market landscape is ever changing at an incredible pace. 2023 has certainly been no exception. AI continued to impact the financial services job market. The potential that advanced datasets, tools and algorithms can have in continuing innovation and efficiency across FS organisations has not gone unnoticed. Of course we can’t avoid the topic of inflation and the rising cost of living that shaped this past year. As candidates make new career decisions financial incentive amongst job security & flexible working continue to dominate conversations. Compared to hiring levels in 2022, the post-pandemic market of 2023 has seen an increase in competition for new and existing talent. Hiring firms have adapted their recruitment strategies to ensure that they secure the best & most diverse talent. This has included focus on time to hire, virtual interviews, amongst other changes. As the year comes to an end we use this time as an opportunity to reflect. A deliberate pause to look back at our year before setting new intentions and goals for the year ahead. Operating as a boutique FS recruitment agency we have had the privilege of partnering with some exceptional talent across compliance, risk, trading, operations and trading technology this past year. Despite strong turbulence across the market, we have worked relentlessly to exceed our targets. We have strengthened our partnerships with some exceptional clients across the global markets space, who continue to innovate and evolve. Thank you to everyone who have continued to support our business. Making a career pivot and setting up a recruitment agency ahead of an unknown global pandemic in 2019 was no easy task. Despite all the turbulence of the macro environment throughout the last 4 years, we are so proud of another successful year and it simply would not have been possible without our incredible network of clients and candidates. I wish everyone a well deserved break. We look forward to connecting and making an impact with you in 2024. ✨ Season’s Greetings From The GRID Recruitment Team ✨

As many of you know, I have an incredible team. Sometimes, I am asked what criteria are important to me when interviewing for a new role. Hello Bankers, In our ever-evolving professional world, it's essential to recognize that individuals are not bound to a single company, we're all free agents in a dynamic job market. As talented professionals, our experiences and expertise make us valuable assets to our organizations. But it's equally crucial to acknowledge that our skills are transferable, and we can seamlessly adapt to new environments. While it's a privilege to work with one company, the true test of our adaptability comes when we transition to a new role or industry. Experienced bankers, in particular, possess a wealth of knowledge that's in high demand across various sectors. However, it's also essential for companies to realize that the departure of experienced team members can impact an organization. The loss of their insights and contributions can be felt by the entire team. In this ever-mobile job landscape, let's encourage a spirit of adaptability and learning, for both professionals and companies. It's a testament to our resilience and a pathway to mutual growth. #banking #motivationoftheday #change
