Team Leader | Senior Support Technician | IT Hardware Technician | Office 365 | Active Directory | Remote Access | Virus & Malware Cleanups
Is it possible that Information Technology is not as respected as we think? We use it every day but how much do you respect the people behind it. Many professions value their people with praise and high salaries. In the past decade, the rates for salaried and non-salaried professionals have been decreasing. Itis true many people have entered the field to make for a crowded pool but does this mean the most experienced of us have to suffer? As a professional with over 30 years of experience in desktop support, network administration, Windows migrations and help desk I feel that my earnings have not reflected it positively. The need for professional technicians in Information Technology is greater now since everything has "gone digital" and I feel the salaries should be reflective.

The only important thing today is to wish all sysadmins, administrators, and service desk specialists patience, strength, and fortitude. Both for them and their families, because this weekend could be tough. There is a lot of noise about the recent outages, a lot of blame and finger pointing. Some are accurate, some are completely missed. Broken changes are being fixed in code, but still thousands of people have to fix computers and servers manually. They are having a tough time right now and this is not their fault. Let's support them. Anyone who was or is a sysadmin will understand. #sysadmin #servicedesk #administrators #devops #crowdstrike #microsoft

Desktop Support Vs IT Support Engineer "Desktop Support" and "IT Support Engineer" are terms that are sometimes used interchangeably, but they can have nuanced differences depending on the context and organization. Here's a general overview: 1. **Desktop Support:** - **Focus:** Primarily deals with end-user devices like computers, laptops, and peripherals. - **Responsibilities:** Troubleshooting software issues, hardware problems, assisting with installations, and providing support for desktop applications. - **Scope:** Typically involves resolving issues related to individual workstations or user devices. 2. **IT Support Engineer:** - **Focus:** Encompasses a broader range of IT infrastructure beyond just end-user devices. - **Responsibilities:** In addition to desktop support, IT Support Engineers may handle server maintenance, network troubleshooting, security configurations, and overall IT infrastructure management. - **Scope:** Involves a more comprehensive approach to supporting and maintaining the entire IT environment within an organization. In essence, "Desktop Support" tends to be more specialized in dealing with individual user workstations, while an "IT Support Engineer" often implies a more encompassing role that involves managing and troubleshooting a broader range of IT systems. The specific duties can vary from one organization to another, and the distinction might not always be clear-cut, as job titles can be used differently across different companies. #desktopsupport #itsupport #it #itengineer
