Under RFM, the crops undertaken in Sundargarh are Bengal gram, Lentil, Mustard, Green gram, and Black gram; while in Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha and Puri, Green gram and Black gram are being promoted. We undertake detailed participatory planning activities at field level and provide technical backstopping and support to field functionaries and farmers on patch selection, and provisioning of inputs like seed of suitable varieties and other critical inputs to encourage farmers to take up one more crop of pulse or oilseed in these lands after the harvest of rice #OrissaFoundation #RiceFallowManagement

Increased Yields and Income for Ragi Cultivators in Koraput The Odisha Millet Mission boosted ragi production in Koraput district of Odisha while creating new income opportunities for the farmers. Earlier, due to low productivity, the farmers of Lamtaput block grew #ragi for household consumption only. Under the #AspirationalBlocksProgramme, incentives were provided to farmers to adopt innovative agronomic practices promoted by organizations like PRADAN and Koraput Nari Shakti Farmers Producers Company (KNSFPCL). Staggered nurseries and the System of Millet Intensification (SMI) have been encouraged to mitigate the effects of erratic rainfall on finger #millets. As a result, farmers have experienced higher productivity, allowing them to meet their consumption needs and sell the surplus in the market, including the government Mandi to take advantage of the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Implementation of Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati (BPKP) being implemented by The Human Development (THD) in blocks like Th.Rampur, Lanjigarh, Titlagarh, Belpada of Kalahandi & Bolangir district has put its impact in the mindset and behaviour of farmers towards farming in organic approach. The Package of Practices (PoPs) that the stakeholders oriented through field functionaries of THD are mostly being utilized in farm practices and changes have been visualised in terms of production, colour, texture, taste and marketing. They are suo moto coming forward to go for such cultivation with a low investment with high return. #PrakritikKrishi #packageofpractices #HouseholdIncome #farmingpractices #sunflowercultivation #LivelihoodSecurity #programmesupport #developmentopportunity #AlternativeLivelihood #krishibibhag #FoodOdisha #cdaokalahandi #naturalfarming #agricultureandfarming #FarmersEmpowerment #farmingforthefuture #healthyliving #NutritionRevolution #farmersofindia

Kharif sowing activities are gaining momentum in major states, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh, as the monsoon has now covered almost the entire country. The monsoon is active across all regions of India, creating favorable conditions for agriculture. According to sources, the condition of Tur, Urad, and Moong crops is satisfactory so far. If the weather continues to be favorable, Karnataka is expected to see excellent quality and higher crop yields this year. Specifically, the Moong crop in Hubli, Dharwad, Bagalkot, and Gadag has reached a height of 2.5 to 3 feet, with production anticipated to increase by 25%. #pulses #marketinsights #commoditymarkets #agriculture #marketanalysis For a more comprehensive analysis and detailed insights, we invite you to explore further at www.agriwatch.com. The physical market for Moong experienced a downturn last week, primarily attributed to the commencement of fresh local crop arrivals in various regions of Madhya Pradesh. Presently, the FAQ Moong variety is fetching INR 8,000 per quintal in Jaipur and INR 7,600 per quintal in Indore. According to AgriWatch, the trend for Moong is expected to continue downward, influenced by the influx of new local summer crops, particularly in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Crop conditions are currently deemed satisfactory. #moong #marketinsights #commoditymarkets #agriculture #marketanalysis For a more comprehensive analysis and detailed insights, we invite you to explore further at www.agriwatch.com. @Dr. Sabyasachi Das, National Coordinator, Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture Network and Director, WASSANIndia said the government and everyone else needed to continue working on the entire millet ecosystem over the next few years. “For example, we need local adoption of millets. In most other crops, hybrids were promoted, but in the case of millets, we need promotion of more localised varieties in a mission mode,” Das said. According to him, states that have announced their own Millet Missions, such as Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra, need to look at the nutritional security of millet varieties, not just productivity. “The Central government, for its part, has to look at a millet decade now, and, for the next four to five years, work extensively to promote local production and consumption of millets to make the grains truly mainstream,” Das said. One way to promote mass consumption of millets, experts say, is to incorporate them in public programmes, such as mid-day meals in schools. So, though the year of millets is over, a Millet Decade could come knocking. #millets #middaymeals #iym2023 #milletmissions #grain

#Budget & #Groundnut in #AP #Anantapur district has been a top grounder of groundnut in the country, whose groundnuts are in huge demand in Gujarat and Maharashtra markets. The Centre’s support to groundnut cultivation will encourage farmers to go for cultivation, dispelling their fears of losses due to the higher frequency of droughts, experts opine. A total of 18.8 lakh hectares of groundnut crop is cultivated in Andhra Pradesh, eight lakh hectares in Anantapur area alone. Combined Anantapur district has the distinction of having 72 per cent of its area covered with groundnut. Thus, failure of crops in a season adversely impacts the livelihood of farmers.
