Please join us in welcoming our new intern Omar Hassan to the #ERC team! His experience and enthusiasm to contribute to the future of aerial transportation are a valuable addition to the company.
𝟭. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗥𝗖?
I am an Electric Propulsion Engineer Intern, and I evaluate test data and develop post-test evaluation tools to detect any errors or abnormalities and to ensure the reliability and performance of our systems. I support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and generate reports for new tests. Additionally, I engage in research activities, such as concept studies and technology analysis, and participate in prototyping efforts, including designing test setups and integrating systems.
𝟮. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺
A significant challenge I anticipate is ensuring the reliability and performance of electric propulsion systems across various operational conditions. The complexity of an eVTOL aircraft, combined with the need to optimize weight, efficiency, and cooling, present unique difficulties. To address these challenges, we use advanced simulation tools and rigorous testing protocols to validate our designs. The collaborative work with cross-functional teams will help me learn from my colleagues to ensure that our propulsion systems are well-integrated with other critical aircraft components.
𝟯. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗥𝗖?
I completed my Master's in Aerospace Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), following a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) from Egypt. During my studies, I concentrated on control and dynamics of eVTOLs and was actively involved in the TUM student initiative Horyzn as an Electrical Propulsion Engineer, where I gained significant experience designing electric powertrains for eVTOLs. This gave me a solid foundation in electric propulsion principles, which I am now applying to my work at ERC-System.

For me, it's inspiring and motivating to contribute to a vision that could reshape the future of transportation, reduce environmental impact, and create a sustainable future. Our work transcends individual achievements; it's about pioneering solutions that benefit society. This collective mission drives me to push the boundaries of what's possible.
I am thrilled to be part of ERC during such a transformative time in the evolution of e-mobility. The challenges we face are substantial, but they are matched by the opportunities to innovate and make a meaningful impact. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of our projects and the advancement of sustainable aviation.
