As a proud Saint Lucian, I had guests in my restaurant when Julien won the gold. It was a great afternoon. During my overseas trips, people used to ask, "Where is Saint Lucia?" There's no need to ask anymore. It's the home of the Julien Alfred who won the 100m Olympic gold medal. Just a note: we are an island with two of everything. Two Nobel laureates, the writer Derek Walcott, and the economist Sir Arthur Lewis. The Pitons - two mountainous volcanic peaks. Tuesday , we might secure our second gold, this time in the 200m.

"As I prepare to travel to Brussels via London, my mission is to enhance the international recognition of Caribbean cuisine. This involves not only exploring culinary opportunities around the world but also fostering appreciation through my restaurant, training aspiring chefs from UK catering schools to our local communities. It is essential to acknowledge the diverse flavors and cultural richness of the Caribbean in our culinary ingredients. The concept of 'Caribbean nights' in Caribbean hotels or on cruise ships sailing in the region seems misplaced; after all, one does not typically find 'Italian nights' in Italy or 'French nights' in France. Let us immerse ourselves fully in the Caribbean experience, embracing its culture, cuisine, and people, beyond just its beautiful seas and sun."
