Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office Announces Appointment of Jeworski “Jay” Mallett Deputy Chief of Corrections. Mallett brings 23+ years of career experience leading operations and accountability initiatives. Mallett comes to New Orleans after a distinguished public service career with the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) where he retired as deputy commissioner this past June. “There is a really good staff here, and I’m confident in the abilities of the team that’s being put together,” Mallett said. In his previous role, Mallett oversaw the coordination and direction of operations for all MDOC institutions, including their satellite operations. His work included formulating plans and directing the operating functions through facility superintendents and wardens.
