🚨🇮🇱🇦🇪🇸🇦🇯🇴 | THIS IS HOW THE UAE, SAUDI ARABIA & JORDAN HELP ISRAEL BYPASS YEMEN’S RED SEA BLOCKADE Video footage released by Israeli Channel 13 this week shows Arab truck drivers being welcomed into Israel via the King Hussein bridge on the Jordanian–Israeli border. According to Channel 13, cargo ships arrive and unload in the UAE. The trucks then carry the goods from Abu Dhabi, crossing into Saudi Arabia through the Emirati Route 62 and Saudi Route 65 highways until they reach Jordan. Once in Jordan, they enter Israel via the Jordan River Crossing, and move on to Haifa. An Israeli company, Trucknet Enterprise Ltd, is among the first ever to establish commercial land routes through West Asian countries – including Gulf Arab states – in order to “bypass the Houthi-menaced Red Sea,” Bloomberg reported on 2 February. #UAE #Jordan #KSA #SaudiArabia #Palestine #Gaza #Israel #Yemen

Aero Contractors of Nigeria Ltd aims to achieve an operating profit by the end of 2024 as it expands its fleet with the reintroduction of two more B737s and adds more routes to its domestic network, according to CEO and Managing Director Ado Sanusi. Speaking to ch-aviation at the recent Aviation AFRICA Summit & Exhibition 2024 in Johannesburg, he said the Nigerian carrier - in receivership under the federal state-owned Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) since 2016 - reported an operating profit of nearly NGN500 million naira (USD305,000) for the first half of this year. "It's modest, but it shows that we can make a profit operating with only two aircraft. I believe by the end of the year, we will grow to USD1.2 million to USD2 million in operating profit," he said. Today in 1973, a chartered pilgrims' jet crashed in northern Nigeria. #RxHistory⌛ On 22 January 1973, a chartered jetliner carrying Nigerian Muslims home from a pilgrimage to Mecca crashed and burned while landing in fog at the Kano International Airport in northern Nigeria. Although 22 people survived the crash, it was reported that 180 people died, making it the worst air disaster in history at the time. The jet, a Boeing 707, was chartered by Nigeria Airways and belonged to Royal Jordanian Airways. It was one of many planes involved in transporting Nigerian Muslims, as about 30,000 people had made the trip to Mecca. The plane, which was originally supposed to land in Lagos, was diverted to Kano due to unfavorable weather conditions. Following the crash, the Nigerian Government sent a team of experts to Kano, to investigate the incident. Although the precise cause of the crash remains unclear, poor visibility at the airport was considered a factor. Reports said that the jet burst into flames as it was making its approach to the Kano airport. However, the Jordanian government reported that the crash occurred because the runway collapsed as the plane landed. Additional Historical Fact: Did you Know that Nigeria has a history of major air disasters? The deadliest crash happened in July 1991 when a chartered Nigerian Airways plane bound for Sokoto exploded and crashed in Jeddah. The plane was carrying at least 261 people, most of whom were Nigerian Muslim pilgrims.
