A big shout out to Simon J Woolf for his comprehensive exploration of the various kegs on the market. While it might initially appear as a guide to keg options, a closer read reveals a critical examination of greenwashing in our industry.
I want to emphasise that those in our industry using KeyKegs are not the enemy!! Focusing on our shared goals rather than our differences is crucial- and that for strategic and “political” reasons. We must avoid petty squabbles that distract us from our primary objective: shifting from linear, “business as usual” models to innovative, sustainable, and circular ones.
As a radical yet pragmatic advocate, I firmly believe that in our David vs. Goliath struggle, it's collaboration, not competition, that will lead us to victory. Whether we’re championing KeyKegs or reusable kegs, we are all pioneers advancing the wine-on-tap movement, for a more sustainable wine industry and that's what really counts.
Transformation of the system can't be achieved by independents alone; it demands collective action. By uniting, we can educate, innovate, and transform the industry at the pace and scale required by today's climate urgency. The radical shift towards a circular model necessitates a global vision, extensive cooperation, mutual trust, and flexibility.
In the sustainability realm greenwashing is a global scourge that we must fight to eradicate-Corporate Responsibility is key- By educating ourselves and our customers- and hopefully influencing future legislation -(although we would be fools to count on it-junk food anyone )- we can combat greenwashing at every turn.
At Sustainable Wine Solutions our focus has been on a zero waste supply chain-It hasn’t been easy- circular supply chains are complex (but beautiful) beasts- I am very proud of what we have achieved- we are showing that there is another more sustainable, less chaotic and last but not least more economical way of doing business.
But if we are serious about making a difference we owe it to the cause to share our expertise and make our solutions available to businesses previously known as “our competitors”
All for one, and one for all!!
Our founder Muriel chatted to Simon J Woolf for The Morning Claret about our reusable kegs. You can read most of the article for free (but to get the full article, and all the gritty detail, you'll need to subscribe).
Simon also highlights this fantastic video on the myths of plastic recycling from a few years ago, well worth a watch: https://lnkd.in/eTEDjH3K
