Biodiversity is our life support system. Three billion people rely on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods, and half of the world’s gross domestic product depends on nature. But nature is in crisis. Together with environmental NGOs and governments, Ørsted is working to reverse this crisis, take climate action, and restore our planet’s biodiversity. And now, we have a clear framework for measuring our biodiversity impact and holding ourselves accountable. Learn more at orsted.com/measuringnature. #WorldOceanMonth #Biodiversity #RenewableEnergy

All eyes on Nature and Biodiversity ! 👀 🌍 Every month, we provide a detailed roundup of global nature news to keep you informed. Addressing #biodiversity and climate issues requires collective action, and it's vital for businesses to respond accordingly. But how can we address these challenges without a thorough understanding? Our news updates are your first step towards understanding—highlighted by this month's #MajorNews: the EU Council's adoption of the pioneering Nature Restoration Regulation. This regulation is set to restore at least 20% of the EU’s land and sea areas by 2030, and all ecosystems in need by 2050. 🐛 It's inspiring to witness environmental concerns gaining traction across various media sectors, not just within environmental news outlets. Imagine if this level of awareness and action extended to nature and biodiversity as well. What a profound impact that could have on conservation efforts! Time to put on our ‘nature lenses’! 👓 #AXAClimateNature

🌿Biodiversity is crucial for human health, food security, and climate resilience. However, biodiversity is declining worldwide, with Europe facing significant losses in wild species and habitats. Reversing this trend is a monumental task- one that will require concerted actions from the EU to national and local levels to protect and invest in existing natural spaces and implement large scale nature restoration. Policies and initiatives like 👇 ✅EU’s proposed Nature Restoration Law ✅Directive on Soil Monitoring and Resilience ✅EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 are crucial towards achieving this objective. 🌍 So today on #BiodiversityDay, let's commit to systemic, robust, and transparent action to protect biodiversity and our urban environments. 🔗 Learn more and access resources to help restore biodiversity 👉 https://lnkd.in/ek2WUn_v #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #SustainableCities #NatureBasedSolutions #UrbanDevelopment #WorldBiodiversityDay

In a recent op-ed published by Orange News, Prof. David Dudgeon emphasizes the urgent need for Hong Kong to address climate change and biodiversity loss together. Human activities have reduced natural habitats and biodiversity, while fossil fuel use increases CO2 levels, driving climate change. Nature-based solutions like reforestation can help sequester carbon and preserve habitats. Although Hong Kong aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, it still relies heavily on fossil fuels. Transitioning to renewable energy and restoring forests are crucial. Immediate action is essential to protect biodiversity and mitigate climate impacts in Hong Kong, as these interconnected crises are worsening. 🌿 #HKBSAP25 #Biodiversity #Sustainability

🌿🌏 Today is the International Day for Biodiversity 2024! 🌏🌿 This year’s theme, "Be part of the Plan" calls on everyone to take action in halting and reversing biodiversity loss. 🐾🦋 🌳 Biodiversity at Risk: Our planet's crucial natural systems are facing serious threats from habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution. 💡 Climate Projects: ecosecurities is #PartOfThePlan by investing in climate projects that support the conservation and restoration of forests, wetlands, and grasslands, which are critical habitats for biodiversity, particularly across our most species-rich regions in the Global South. 🌳🌿 💸Scaling Climate Finance: By leveraging organisations like the @International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits, we can scale climate finance to support even more positive investments. This panel provides expert guidance to ensure funds are effectively used to protect and restore biodiversity, fostering greater global impact. 🌱 Join the Movement: The #BiodiversityPlan holds incredible promise for driving transformative change and action towards a world of living in harmony with nature by 2050. We can all contribute to a healthier, more biodiverse planet. Governments, communities, businesses, and individuals! 🌍💪 #BiodiversityDay #PartOfThePlan #ForNature

It´s #BiodiversityDay 2024! In December 2022, leaders from 190 countries adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. In addition to 23 environmental targets, the pivotal agreement aims to protect 30 percent of the planet’s land and oceans by 2030 - known as the 30x30 plan. Why is this so important? A million species are at risk of extinction right now. Biodiversity loss and climate change combined will accelerate us toward the global earth system tipping points - already breached in some areas. There are so many great ideas, initiatives and changemakers working on this right now. Today is a great time to start to learn about the topic and support the positive work going on to enable positive tipping points! #PartofthePlan #ForNature

🌎 This year we are Celebrating #InternationalBiodiversityDay with a Commitment to Nature! 🌱 In order to compensate for 100% of the GABV Secretariat's residual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, we have joined the Biodiversity and Climate (BioClima) initiative, a public-private partnership for the conservation of biodiversity and climate change mitigation in the Lombardy Region (Italy) by supporting concrete actions in the regions’ regional parks and protected areas. The activities that the GABV Secretariat financed include the containment of alien invasive species threatening the biodiversity of the Po River Forests in the municipality of Martignana di Po (Cremona). Sponsored activities that have led to the certified removal of additional CO2 from the atmosphere include enrichment planting and reforestation of native species (such as oak, ash, elm, and white willow). 🌳 Learn more about our efforts to manage our carbon footprint and the work of the BioClima initiative. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e-aiKGPZ #InternationalBiodiversityDay #BiodiversityConservation #ClimateAction #SustainableFinance WOWnature Etifor | Valuing Nature

Financial institutions play a crucial role in addressing this issue. By integrating biodiversity considerations into our investment thesis, we take our share of responsibility and contribute to the prevention of further biodiversity loss and contribute to the conservation and restoration of nature. #biodiversity #responsibleinvestment #finance #investment
According to IPBES, about 75% of the land-based environment and 66% of the marine environment have been significantly altered by human actions, leading to a global environmental crisis. ♻ This crisis particularly affects businesses with high impacts on ecosystems and those dependent on ecosystem services. The massive degradation of oceans, forests, freshwater bodies and other ecosystems is undermining nature’s ability to provide vital goods and services for all societies to thrive. 🚨 Financial institutions play a crucial role in addressing this issue. By integrating biodiversity considerations into their activities, they can help prevent further biodiversity loss and contribute to the conservation and restoration of nature. ❓ Do you know what the main drivers of biodiversity loss are? How are they impacting your organisation´s activities? Read here to know more how we are supporting Financial Institutions to take effective measures to reverse nature loss this decade and to ensure ecosystem resilience - https://lnkd.in/dQtkfi3P #FinanceForBiodiversity #BiodiversityLoss #EnvironmentalCrisis
