The #Arthrex InternalBrace™ technique is a revolutionary advancement that augments primary ligament repairs, allowing for faster recovery compared to traditional procedures* and providing additional protection* during the healing phase. With extensive published research to support outcomes, learn more about what makes the InternalBrace technique an effective and practical ligament protective solution at #AOFAS2024 exhibit 411 or: https://lnkd.in/dyYjVAiQ #Innovation #Orthopedics #SportsMedicine #InternalBrace *Coetzee JC, et al. Foot Ankle Int. 2018;39.107110071774236. Kulwin R, et al. Foot Ankle Int. 2021;1071100720976071. Viens NA, et al. Am J Sports Med. 2014;42(2):405-411. The InternalBrace surgical technique is intended only to augment the primary repair/reconstruction by expanding the area of tissue approximation during the healing period and is not intended as a replacement for the native ligament. The InternalBrace technique is for use during soft tissue-to-bone fixation procedures and is not cleared for bone-to-bone fixation.

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification titled: Management of Wrist Fractures 🦴! This course provided invaluable insights into the latest advancements in treating wrist fractures, ensuring optimal patient care and recovery. Grateful for the opportunity to expand my knowledge in this critical area! #WristFractureManagement On that note, I'd love to share some of the important points discussed during the course. Among wrist fractures, scaphoid fractures are particularly significant due to their prevalence and impact on hand function. The scaphoid, a small bone located on the thumb side of the wrist, is the most prone to fractures, often resulting from falls onto an outstretched hand. According to statistics, scaphoid fractures account for approximately 60-70% of all carpal bone fractures. These injuries commonly occur in young, active individuals, making accurate diagnosis and timely intervention crucial to prevent long-term complications such as nonunion or avascular necrosis. Treatment typically involves immobilization with a cast or splint to allow the bone to heal properly. In some cases, surgical intervention may be necessary, particularly for displaced or unstable fractures. Close monitoring and rehabilitation are essential components of the management process, ensuring optimal recovery and restoration of wrist function. #ScaphoidFracture #WristInjuries #Orthopedics #MedicalTreatment

Head Orthoptist: Adult & Paediatric Ophthalmology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Meet Paula, one of our experienced #vision #screeners. I have been meeting with the team over the past few weeks refreshing their great skills. They are key in detecting reversible vision loss in children and even detecting life saving intervention in the community! Yes, one of their children was identified as having a tumor. They followed up with 95 families where children had failed screening in one or both eyes and found only 66 of them had taken their children for onward assessments. A snippet of their findings is below (last one is shocking...) • 46 were now wearing glasses (or if already a glasses wearer, had been given a stronger prescription) (73%) • 8 were referred on to other services (i.e. Ophthalmology) (13%) • 7 did not need glasses or further treatment at this stage (11%) • 2 reported problems with Optician wanting to see their child – told them they were too young (3%) Find out what services are like in your local area by visiting: https://lnkd.in/gYRxe4vG #Paediatrics #Visionloss #ophthalmology #Orthoptics #AHPs

ACL tears are the most common knee ligament injury, occurring in around 1 in 3,500 people in the United States. This injury is common in people who play sports involving sudden direction changes and jumping. Treatment of an ACL tear depends on the severity of the ligament damage and the person’s health. This article explains how doctors treat ACL injuries and how long recovery takes. People who have undergone ACL repair surgery can often return to sports and other activities after 6–12 months. However, this depends on the injury severity and how they commit to physical therapy after the surgery. https://lnkd.in/e8iV5j-e Jordan-Young Institute 757.490.4802 jordan-younginstitute.com 5716 Cleveland St, Ste 200 Virginia Beach, 23462 #jordanyounginstitute #orthopedics #sportsmedicine

The majority of rotator cuff tears begin as tendinitis or inflammation in the tissue that connects the shoulder muscles to the shoulder joint. If not treated, this tissue can split over time, resulting in a partially or fully torn rotator cuff. Dr. Rafael A. Buerba Siller, orthopedic surgeon at Banner – University Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic, explains, "rotator cuff injuries are not only painful but can also have a significant impact on a worker's ability to perform their job effectively. Left untreated, these injuries can worsen over time and potentially lead to long-term disability." To help prevent rotator cuff injuries, Dr. Buerba Siller recommends implementing proper lifting techniques, using ergonomic tools and equipment, taking regular breaks to rest and stretch, and seeking medical attention at the first sign of shoulder pain or discomfort.
