BREAKING - Mutated Monkeypox strain (Clade Ib) detected in Democratic Republic of the Congo. The epidemiological curve shows no exponential growth of this outbreak, indicating low epidemic/pandemic potential. The researchers say that the entire outbreak is likely a result of human-to-human transmission after zoonotic spillover. 30% of cases were among sex workers. No deaths occurred. If this spreads to Western countries, the risk should remain low for most of the population. If contracted, Monkeypox can be easily treated with FDA-approved Tecovirimat. We will be closely following this development. #MFScholar https://lnkd.in/gbv74EUz Nicolas Hulscher Peter McCullough, MD, MPH

Our systematic review, All You Gain is Pain and Sorrow, examining barriers and facilitators to the prevention of FGM in HIC is now available online. Dr Fatima Y. and I identified a total of 12 themes, with the majority reflecting barriers to the prevention of FGM including beliefs about female virtue, beliefs about social sanctions, and the preservation of culture, among others. Facilitators for the prevention of FGM were fewer. They included memory and trauma from experiencing FGM, knowledge and awareness of the female anatomy, and legislative protection from FGM due to migration. A few themes, such as religious beliefs, acted as facilitators and barriers. https://lnkd.in/e4T2epqr

PGD Cost in Nairobi https://lnkd.in/gvQtsuQj PGD is a valuable tool for couples looking to prevent genetic disorders in their offspring. While the cost of PGD in Nairobi can be significant, it's important to weigh the benefits against the expenses. With proper planning and understanding of the costs involved, PGD can be a viable option for couples seeking to start a family.

Not all cases go well. In a blog post, Fred Shaffer describes one of my cases that kind of went down the tubes. I originally presented this as part of a symposium I organized at the AAPB (Association for Applied Psychophysiology & Biofeedback) conference a few years ago called, "Crappy Cases: Should I Zig, Zag, or Drive Off the Bridge." I think it's incredibly important to talk about our failures, even if it's hard to do. That's the only way we can learn, and it sets a good example for our juniors. #biofeedback #neurofeedback #migraine #headache https://lnkd.in/eGf4vt3Y
