Why is the porous coating technology at Biovac more than an advance? Our porous coatings are the result of decades of research and refinement. We use small, precise sintered microspheres that create a unique porous mesh. This structure allows the bone to grow through the implant, achieving natural and lasting integration. Sintering is another key of keys. This process involves the fusion of metal particles at specific temperatures, creating a robust and resistant structure. While the VCFix implant is specifically designed for use without any bone cement, its design also ensures compatibility with cement augmentation if deemed necessary. In cadaveric studies, the cement-augmented VCFix implants demonstrate superior performance compared to balloon kyphoplasty (BKP), even with minimal cement injection (up to 2 mL per pedicle). The restoration of anterior vertebral height averaged 97.61 ± 4.19% for vertebrae treated with VCFix using minimal cement, surpassing the 91.90 ± 6.07% restoration observed in vertebrae treated with BKP. The height restoration with VCFix and cement was maintained and remained higher than with BKP even after the application of cyclic loading. These results highlight the superior performance of our device under physiological conditions.
