🎉 Celebrating a Hockey Legend – Brian Kilrea’s 90th Birthday "Toast and Roast" 🏒 On October 20, 2024, we will gather for an unforgettable evening to Toast and Roast the legendary Brian Kilrea on the occasion of his 90th birthday. As the winningest coach in CHL history, Brian has made an indelible impact not only on the hockey world but also on our Ottawa community. Held at the Horticulture Building at TD Place, this special event will bring together over 350 business and community leaders, former players, coaches, hockey legends, and fans. We’ll share tributes, laughter, and, of course, a little fun at Killer’s expense. 😉 Brian has always believed in the power of hockey to transform lives, guiding young athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the ice. To continue his legacy, we’re proud to announce the establishment of the Brian Kilrea Legacy Fund, which will sponsor hockey players aged 6-16 by providing equipment, skates, and registration fees. This fund will ensure that children who might not otherwise have the chance can experience the game Brian loves so much. Join us as we honor a true legend and give back to the next generation of hockey players. 🗓️ Event Date: October 20, 2024 📍 Location: Horticulture Building, TD Place 🎟️ Tickets: https://lnkd.in/gymthhtR #BrianKilrea #ToastAndRoast #HockeyLegend #BrianKilreaLegacyFund #Ottawa67s #CommunityImpact #OSEGFoundation #HockeyForAll #CelebratingLegends

On average, families spend about $900 per season on each child participating in youth sport programs. For some active children, that can be as much as $3,600 a year for a parent. For some parents, that is $3,600 a year per child! Now imagine your child wanting to be active and wanting to be part of a team and you cannot afford it because of the price? Right now, costs are high and the economy is forcing everyone to be a bit more frugal. It happens. This Soccer Ball Support Fundraiser initiative has a collateral effect in which donating and supporting can offset some of the costs organizations have to charge parents & participants prior to the season starting. Therefore, we can help and promote more kids on the field and on a team to play, participate and remain active rather than remaining at home, inactive and most likely overusing technology for entertainment and distraction. The goal is to raise $10,000 by April 1st 2025, to purchase about 750 Soccer Balls (ranging from size 3, size 4 and size 5), distribute 10-15 new soccer balls and soccer bag to each program by Friday, April 31st 2025, and support a total of 50-75 local & underfunded soccer programs. The idea here is to pull a community together to do more with less and to prove that, together, we can all accomplish more. We seek to bring a blinding light to the power of a UNITED effort and our mission in UNITING the communities, within #NewJerseysOwn, through soccer. If your soccer program or organization can benefit from the Soccer Ball Support Fundraiser simply, fill out the Application Form here (we made it simple & easy): https://lnkd.in/e4-XHfxd You will be directed to a google form to fill out the information and submit the application. Thank you all for your consideration & support. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/e4-XHfxd Together, UNITED. #United #Support #Apply #Donate #Team

The true power of tourism is more than economic, when it’s done right the impact has positive social and environmental as well.
Some of the best stories about hosting the World Juniors in our city have less to do with hockey, and everything to do with our community coming together to support one another. This is one of those stories. La Tablée des Chefs | Hockey Canada | Lionhearts Inc. | Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) | Ottawa Senators Hockey Club | Brookstreet Hotel

The National Hockey League (NHL) has revitalized its charitable foundations, the NHL Foundation™ in the U.S. (NHL Foundation U.S., Inc.) and Canada (NHL Foundation Canada.) The League’s philanthropic initiatives will continue to support organizations that make a positive social impact, while putting a greater emphasis on investing in those with best-in-class programs. The revitalized mission of the NHL Foundations is now built on five key pillars: youth development, health and well-being, social equity, pathways to hockey, and service. The youth development pillar focuses on initiatives that are dedicated to the social and emotional development of youth under 18. Under the health and well-being pillar, the NHL Foundations invest in programs that provide nutrition education and mental health resources. The social equity pillar puts inclusion at the forefront, with the NHL Foundations supporting organizations that are committed to combating racism, bullying prevention, and helping to reconnect disconnected communities. Under the pathway to hockey pillar, the NHL Foundations work with organizations that promote access to the game through educational and workforce development, and mentorship programs. And the service pillar supports brave and dedicated military members and first responders. Read more: https://lnkd.in/giHb8EEs

Day 1 of 30 to raise $30K. Nonprofit Baltimore Urban Baseball Association (BUBA) has $15,000 in Maryland State tax credits to give out! 50% of donations to BUBA ($500 or more) can be credited to state taxes, dollar-for-dollar. These tax credits are in addition to the deductions on both Federal and State taxes as a result of the charitable contribution. Please include the phrase "CITC Contribution" on any donation. https://lnkd.in/edx_ER2Y As we approach the end of 2024, I wanted to take a moment to update you on the incredible progress that the Baltimore Urban Baseball Association (BUBA) has made this year. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we’ve continued to expand and provide opportunities to underserved youth in Baltimore City. However, to meet our year-end cash flow needs and ensure our mission continues, we urgently need your help to finish the year strong. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve accomplished in 2024, with your support: 1. Free Baseball and Softball Training Facility for Baltimore City Youth BUBA operates America’s first and only free baseball and softball training facility, serving over 2,300 young athletes, with 600+ receiving sponsored memberships for free access to our state-of-the-art facility. These youth not only develop athletic skills but also gain life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership. This year, BUBA has conducted over 500 training sessions and workshops. 2. Pro-Bono Facility Use for Local Baseball and Softball Teams BUBA has provided hundreds of hours of free facility access to local organizations such as South Baltimore Little League, James Mosher Baseball, Carroll Park Athletics, Visions Select baseball, EDRICO and Northwood Little League, helping sustain their programs. 300+ hours of pro-bono facility use allowed these teams to train, foster community, and keep youth engaged in sports. 3. College Athlete Mentorship and University Partnerships Through partnerships with Towson University, UMBC, Johns Hopkins University, and Notre Dame of Maryland University, over 150 college athletes have volunteered as mentors and coaches, giving younger participants the guidance and inspiration they need to succeed on and off the field. Over 200 mentoring hours have been contributed this year alone.

To Friends LuHi Lacrosse, Let’s “finish the job”! Those familiar with LuHi know it is “us vs the world.” LuHi Girl's Lax was started in 2005 by Parent/Firefighter Scott Maxwell. In three years, the team became competitive and began to make the NYSAIS playoffs. Over the next 5 years, the team became one of the top 5 in NYSAIS and made it to the State Independent School finals in 2013. Coach Max retired in 2015, and the team remained competitive. However, after 2020, the decline became steep. The 2021 squad finished with a 0-12 record, and just 13 girls remained on the roster at year's end. I started coaching the team in the 2021-2022 school year. It was a leap of faith for me and them. We lost our first four games by 60+ goals. It sounded like we won the national championship when we tallied our first goal! We split our next four games, going 2-2 and securing the first win the juniors ever had in a LuHi uniform. Wins are a goal, but not our purpose. We aim to glorify God in all we do, win our lose. The faith the girls had in God and each other propelled them to end the year with four straight victories, including an overtime thriller vs a geographically close rival in the conference semifinals and a win in the conference finals vs a team that had beaten us 22-4 and 20-6 in the regular season. Cinderella got her slipper! We have since reached the NYSAIS quarterfinals three years in a row and have student-athletes committed to playing lacrosse in college. We’re not done! “We seek to finish the job” and need “fuel for the future”. We seek to be among New York State's top programs. We are not well-resourced, hence this plea. Those of you who know me know that I hate asking for money. But as Dr. David Hahn once told me, “You’re not asking for you; you’re asking people to support the ministry...the students you serve…the family in Christ.” We are not well-resourced, hence this plea. We purchase our own uniforms, buses for long-distance travel, and assistance for steadily rising tuition, to name a few. I’m asking you to help fuel the future! I seek to raise $50,000 through donations, clinics, training etc. Below is a link to provide the next-generation LuHi Girl’s lacrosse. One-time tax-deductible gift. https://lnkd.in/e4rkn-TT -Click Designation -Click other -Type Girl’s Lax I am happy to catch up with alum, and answer any questions you may have. denis.scannell@luhi.org 516-567-3241 Yours in Lacrosse Ministry, Denis Scannell Head Girl’s Lacrosse Coach LuHi P.S. If possible, drop me an email or text to let me know you donated.
