I recently had the honour of hosting Universal Robots’ first Technical Summit in Detroit for our distributors, focused on empowering them with the latest technical updates, insights on upcoming product launches, and stronger connections with the UR team.🙌 The 1.5 days were filled with networking and meaningful engagement, covering key topics such as an introduction to PolyScope X, insights into our AI capabilities and recent launches, Optimove, the new end-of-arm safeguard in partnership with SICK Sensor Intelligence, and much more. Here are some tools I used to design the experience: 🍹 Breaking the Ice: We kicked off with an optional evening networking event the day before, with casual seating and high tables to encourage mingling. This created a warm, energetic atmosphere the next morning, with everyone already having met a few faces before the summit. 📲 Interactive Connections: Each speaker’s intro slide included a QR code, nudging participants to connect with UR staff and external speakers, strengthening those new relationships. ✨ Multiple Spaces for Focus: Using different rooms for sessions helped re-energize participants, giving them a chance to move around, stretch, and approach each new session with a fresh mindset. 📚 The Power of Choice: Attendees built their own agendas, choosing from various workshops over three rounds, ensuring each participant got the most relevant content for their role. ⚡ Post-Lunch Re-Energizer: To counter the usual post-lunch dip, we hosted a speed-dating session with UR experts at tall tables in the foyer. This setup allowed participants to move between 12 different experts, engaging in direct, dynamic conversations on technical topics—keeping the energy high! 📊 Engagement with Live Polls and Q&A: Using Slido for live polls, word clouds, and anonymous Q&A, participants could interact throughout the keynotes, ensuring their voices were heard. These methods were all inspired by the Danish Meetovation principles on innovative meeting design, emphasising engagement. Thank you to all the participants, internal experts, Philip Hollingsworth entire team and the guys from SICK Sensor Intelligence: Nick Sonski, Nicholas Longworth & Jayson Pestow who contributed to making the Universal Robots Technical Summit a success! A special shoutout to my outstanding partner throughout this journey, Julie McIntosh – I couldn’t have done it without you! Your hard work, dedication, and positive mindset truly made this event unforgettable. 🌟💪 Here’s to more Technical Summits in the future!🎉

That's a wrap! 🎬 We've just concluded our five-day stint at Hannover Messe 2024, representing Phoenix Contact Smart Business and our industry-focused Smart Services. We engaged in numerous discussions, shared laughter 😄, made contacts, and deliberated over projects with both our team and visitors. Trade fairs like this offer an excellent opportunity to discover new projects initiated worldwide 🌍. We can identify where our products and Smart Services can add value and understand what potential users anticipate from cloud software ☁️. Data security 🔒 is paramount and non-negotiable. We found ourselves discussing this topic more frequently last year, and the concerns expressed by those we conversed with were notably higher than this year. This shift indicates that companies are now focusing more on the added value a cloud solution can provide. They rightfully expect security that aligns with industrial standards, much like the Smart Services offered on Proficloud.io. We eagerly anticipate the outcomes of these enriching conversations and look forward to embarking on many new projects 🚀. We extend our heartfelt thanks for a fantastic Hannover Messe 2024! Remember, you can find us not only at trade fairs but also online. We're always delighted to demonstrate our Smart Services live, conveniently via Teams! Feel free to reach out to us anytime. #HannoverMesse2024 #PhoenixContact #SmartServices #DataSecurity #CloudSolutions

What makes me excited about the Future of Event Tech?🌐 It's that Event tech has all the potential for shaking up how we connect at events, learn from events, and do business at events. Why? Really it's down to the data and analytics, and our new found ability to make smarter decisions and more personal experiences. 💡 What’s exciting: 1) Amped Up Engagement: New platforms are making events more interactive and fun for everyone involved. 2) Real-Time Insights: Analytics help us tweak things on the fly to keep events on point. 3) Building Communities: Events are becoming more than just one-off experiences, some of them are actually (finally!) turning into ongoing communities. ⚠️ What we need to watch: 1) Data Privacy: The more data we gather, the more we need to protect it. We owe this to our attendees. And ourselves as event providers! 2) Tech Integration: Getting new tools to play nice with existing systems is key. And it's really goddamn hard. 3) Adoption: Tech is great, but it’s only as good as how well it’s used across the board. And again... this can be really goddamn hard! This is why I'm pretty excited about the future of Event Tech World - my small but fast growing community of event tech users and buyers. They've already given me all these ideas and there's many more conversations taking place offline too. Exciting times ahead - looking forward to seeing where this journey goes! 🛣 Why not come and join us, link to join in comments. #EventTech #Innovation #DataAnalytics #CommunityBuilding

Last week we did the unthinkable. And it couldn’t have gone better. We co-hosted a dinner with a direct competitor. Here’s what happened. The dinner started with us addressing why we would do this. It’s simple. We both have a vision for the future of event tech that’s bigger than any one company. A fundamental belief around the way customers should be treated. But quickly. The conversation began to dart between strategy and tactics. In a good way. It allowed us to get deep. To debate fundamental user experience decisions. Not just of our products. But of what makes the best attendee experience. Topics that otherwise fly under the radar. Beyond product. We discussed the way event organizers should be supported. Where the role of event tech starts and stops. …or how it doesn’t stop. Our goal? Have guests leave knowing that Accelevents cares. Now, I’m not here to promote a competitor. But I don’t many others who would have been up for this. Or have been able to approach it with mutual respect, which made it successful. So hats off to Christopher Sykes and the Swoogo team.

“Is this conference’s website a Web3 site?” I asked. A while back I attended a Web3 conference and in between talks and panels, I mingled with the crowd, making conversation. One of the topics I usually bring up at Web3 conferences is the need for us to remember that Web3 is not a vacuum in the world of technology. But that it’s a new chapter in a series of chapters that paved the way for us to get here. So to that end, one of my favorite ways to spark a little conversation at Web3 conferences is to bring up the subject of the conference’s website. Almost instinctively, every person I ask, answers: “Yeah, of course it is. This is a Web3 conference so of course the website is a Web3 website.” After I smile, tilt my head and non-verbally insist, most relent. “I mean, I guess it’s a Web2 site …?” Of course I insist. “But is it really Web2? Can users generate content on it?” Invariably I get blank stares when people realise that our beloved Web3 conference sports a bonafide Web1 website. And here’s driving the final nail right through Web3 maximism’s coffin. That’s completely ok. It’s completely ok for a Web3 conference to present itself with a Web1 presentation site. So what? We still need Web1 sites. Not every hotel, restaurant, coffee shop or pizzeria out there is going to be a social media platform with user generated content or friends requests or streaming videos or whatever. And Web2 platforms will still be around for a very long time. They will still be centralised and billions of people will still use them. And that’s completely ok. Web3 doesn’t mean we need to tear everything down and rebuild it all from scratch. We will definitely see fantastic Web3 protocols that will revolutionize how we live our digital lives but those digital lives will include browsing Web1 sites and logging into Web2 platforms too. Just like there still and always will be a place for radio, for newspapers, for trains, and for whatever else type of technology was supposed to die with the advent of more advanced and slick upgrades. To really build something that lives on and is loved by users, in Web3, a holistic approach is crucial, an approach that includes Web2 and Web1 elements. And dare I even say, Web0 elements. The best Web3 protocols out there will provide users with a beautiful natural, progressive and frictionless web experience, ranging from 0 to 3 as natural as scrolling and clicking.
