OTC Global Holdings' Senior VP and Lead Analyst Campbell Faulkner commented to S&P Global and Reuters on Vistra Corp.'s plan to add additional gas-fueled power capacity in Texas: "This is a positive announcement for much-needed dispatchable megawatts in ERCOT. Where this is difficult to suss out is the profitability that Vistra Corp. foresees and their view of the long-term viability of these projects. I hope that they are not the only ones who view gas-fired units as profitable for the years to come. That is especially the case given the projected load growth that ERCOT sees over the next few years.   • Irving, Texas-based Vistra’s plans to add as much as 2 GW of natural gas-fired generation capacity drew praise on May 31 from an analyst who closely follows reliability efforts in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas market. “This is a positive announcement for much-needed dispatchable megawatts in ERCOT,” said Campbell Faulkner, senior vice president and chief data analyst at OTC Global Holdings, a Houston-based interdealer commodity broker.
