One of the most defining moments in my career journey was deciding to take an #MBA program with Nexford University. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine being where I am today. My initial plan was to excel in my job, steadily progress, and grow within that role. However, life had an unexpected path in store for me. It all began during a conversation with a close friend who passionately shared the fulfillment they found in pursuing a master’s degree in their beloved field. This sheer enthusiasm and a renowned sense of purpose in their voice left a lasting mark on me. They urged me to explore this avenue, highlighting its potential to elevate my career significantly. Encouraged by their words, I researched master’s programs aligned with my career path. I sought guidance from my peers and seniors who had previously pursued similar degrees. Following thorough contemplation and numerous discussions with my friends and family, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in the field of Industrial Engineering/Supply Chain Management. It felt like a definitive step forward in my professional journey. In the following months, I navigated through the process of applications while juggling a full-time job. Gathering recommendation letters, crafting statements of purpose, and diligently preparing for and taking requisite standardized tests. Eventually, I secured admission into two of my top-choice programs. After thorough consideration, I opted to pursue my Masters in Industrial Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington. The transition from India to the US has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. As Aditi Paul, PhD 🟢 aptly mentions in one of her posts: “Moving to the US is an extreme crash course in being independent.” After nearly 1.5 years of living in the US and with 90% of my course completed, I now understand better and deeply resonate with that pivotal conversation I had with my friend. As I step into my final semester, reflecting on this journey fills me with profound gratitude for the gentle push my friend provided in the right direction. Entering this final semester, I am amazed by how this decision has transformed my life. It’s been a journey of growth, challenges, and invaluable experiences. Looking back, I realize the unexpected turns led me precisely where I needed to be. My journey here has enriched me in ways I couldn't have foreseen. As I anticipate the end of my Master's journey, I'm eager to apply these newfound insights and knowledge to carve out a fulfilling career ahead.   #careergrowth #mastersjourney #globalperspective

Experiencing all four seasons at Duke's beautiful campus during my first year of the MBA journey has been a visual delight and a metaphor for my personal growth journey and that of my classmates. Joining a cohort of 400+ high-achieving, intelligent individuals has been both inspiring and challenging, pushing us to re-evaluate and grow in unexpected ways. 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 1: 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 – 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 We arrived with starry eyes and high hopes, driven by ambition and excitement for what lies ahead. The energy and positivity were palpable. 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 2: 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹 – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 Recruiting pressure kicked in alongside intense coursework. As someone with a non-traditional background and a decade-long study gap, this period was challenging. The support from my C-Lead, peers, and second-year students (SYs) was invaluable and I successfully navigated these challenges. 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 3: 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 Winter brought the toughest challenges. The rigors of the recruiting season resulted in multiple rejections and moments of hopelessness. This humbling experience taught us resilience. 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 4: 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 – 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 Spring brought a sense of renewal. The tough winter gave way to new opportunities and growth, symbolizing the transformative power of perseverance. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: 1. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Interacting with people from various cultural backgrounds and nationalities helped me discover new facets of myself, fostering personal growth. 2. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁: Plans B, C, or D... often prove more effective than Plan A. Learning to fail forward and bounce back quickly is crucial. 3. 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Scheduling even the smallest activities, including time with friends and family, has been essential in balancing the demands of business school. 4. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁: Competition is fierce, but Fuqua's emphasis on Decency Quotient (DQ) sets us apart and strengthens our Team Fuqua spirit. 5. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲: Building a support system within the cohort is crucial. The unexpected support and camaraderie I've experienced reaffirmed my choice of business school. My first year at Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business has been transformative, both personally and professionally. These experiences and learnings have not only prepared me for the business world but have also shaped me into a more resilient and empathetic individual. "My journey was insane - the lows were extreme, and the highs reached their peak." - Kajal Singh, Dartmouth College Class of 2023, Gradvine Class of 2022 Here's her story about her life at Dartmouth in her own words: "When I started applying abroad, I aspired to deepen my understanding of product management through the right master's program. With little to no professional experience in the field, my goal was to first gain foundational and advanced knowledge, before seeking a specific job. Receiving Dartmouth's acceptance was a life-changing moment. I was all set to go to Cornell. After assuming they hadn't accepted me, that morning's email notification was an incredible surprise. Opening the portal and seeing that letter sparked immense pride for myself and my family. Those first days on campus were a rollercoaster. Stepping into the new environment sparked excitement but also uncertainties. Simple tasks like grocery shopping reminded me how different this chapter of my life was from all that I had experienced so far. My fondest memories are the insights that I gained from engaging with my diverse batch mates. Our discussions, projects, and observing each other enriched my learning profoundly, both personally and professionally. The balance between academics and freedom to explore extracurriculars truly defined my experience. What I'll miss most is the constant learning through in-depth class dialogues and the structure of a routine, yet flexibility to try new pursuits.
