Speaking about measuring regenerative outcomes…. Where does your beef come from? All cattle, grain or grass finished, spend most of their life on grass. Most beef comes from cow calf operations that operate on pasture land and sell caves into feedlots for finsihing on grain the last few months of their lives. Regardless of if you prefer grain or grass finished beef the pasture management practices while to cattle are on grass most of their lives makes a big difference when it comes to land outcomes. Of the 900M acres of agricultural production roughly 2/3 is pasture land raising animals. It matters. Ranches managed with holistically or adaptive planned grazing have higher carbon storage, water capture, soil health, biodiversity above and below ground because they are mimicking natures grazing patterns. So, where does your beef come from? 🙋🏻♀️I get all of my meat(beef, chicken, and pork) from REP Provisions. I’ve been to the ranch and it’s buzzing with life…in a Alice in Wonder Land sort of way. You feel your place in the ecosystem, and feel so small relative to all the abundance. Everything is so alive. They also measure ecosystems and soil health outcomes every year to make sure their management practices are improving things like soil carbon, water infiltration, biodiversity, and soil erosion. All of their ranches must meet these standards every year. You want to talk about carbon storage.. perennial ecosystems can STORE carbon. Many other things I love about REP(Regenerate, Energize, Preserve). On the practical side they ship all over the country on dry ice with included returnable insulated boxes. I always hated food shipments because of the waste. They got creative with that and it makes me feel so good to ship the box back to them instead of throwing or recycling packaging. Looping in the human health element for my fellow nutrition nerds…their beef has the same omega 3:6 ratio to that of salmon! All the claims about beef being inflammatory can pack sand when it comes to this holistically managed beef. 😉 Most beef at the market averages 1:10 omega 3:6. Raise your hand if you want to hear more about the ranching and/or nutritional side of things! REP extended a discount code for you all to try out if you’re looking for accessible quality beef from a regenerative family rancher. As the home of Wrights, one of the areas we are experts in is bakery. As a new year begins, we’ve been looking ahead to what the top trends in bakery will be in 2024… 😋 Familiar favourites, different design – with 29% of consumers saying their choice of baked goods is influenced by ‘new flavour twists’ on classic treats, we’re seeing more operators experiment with different formats for their sweet bakery items, such as twice-baked croissants and cruffins. 🌏 Go global – with one in two consumers seeking out new taste experiences, we’re expecting to see bakeries increasingly turn to flavours and formats from across the globe for inspiration. What will be the pastel de nata of 2024? ♻️ Tasty, sustainable food solutions – this year will see a rise in products which have an extended shelf life, to reduce waste and therefore costs for operators. At Wrights we’ve developed the ideal solution. Our Flake Cake is coated in a thick layer of dark chocolate, which keeps the sponge fresher for longer, extending its shelf life while retaining its high quality. "PLOWING" The First Step to a Successful Vineyard🍷❤️🥂 Follow us: Wine International Association Instagram: @vignecentrosardegna Plowing a vineyard marks the start of soil preparation for planting new crops or grapevines, involving turning over the soil to break up compacted layers, incorporate organic matter, and prepare a suitable seedbed. Timing is crucial, climate, soil condition, and crop requirements, often beginning in early spring or late winter. Enhancing soil health by aerating, improving water infiltration, promoting root growth, controlling weeds, and incorporating fertilizers or compost. This sets the foundation for a successful growing season, although it does not need to be done every year. #winebusiness #vino #sommelier #champagne #ai #funny #Innovation #Technology #Future #advertisingandmarketing #sustainability #productivity #travel #businessintelligence #artificialintelligence #automation #food #sustainable #wine #restaurant #export #import #italy #france

🌱Enabling scalable, science-backed soil data solutions to create a healthier, more sustainable future for our food system | Nature lover | Engineer | Photographer
For all the wine lovers out there 🍷 🍇 To plough or not to plough... 🚜 There are many reasons why this is absolutely NOT the way to a healthy vineyard - just think of the beneficial microbiology in the soil and the mycorrhizal fungal networks that help the vines to access nutrients. Ploughing each year will just tear this apart 💔 I'm sure there are reasons why you'd want to plough; it could help to plant and establish healthy cover crops and help to break up compacted soil, aerating the soil and incorporate compost. But almost all of this can also be achieved by having a healthy soil microbiome - but that's of course where we have to start: restoring soil health. That is the key to ensuring we don't need to intervene too much. And healthy soils will lead to healthy and happy vines, which lead to great grapes that we can produce amazing wine with... It's all linked! The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation and Union Grove Farm and Vineyard are great examples of progress that's being made! #soilhealth #viticulture #wine #vineyard #greatgrapes #regenerativeagriculture #regenag #regenerativeviticulture

My ultimate dream in life is to take up farming some day. A few days ago, I found a carefully treasured memory that reminded me that my dream might not be a distant reality. Last year when I went to Rome for the World Food Forum, I was particularly thrilled at the prospect of visiting an organic agriculture cooperative littered with olive groves, orchards and fields cultivated with vegetables. It's one thing to try the drool-worthy Italian cuisine, but to have the rare pleasure of tasting extra virgin olive oil - the liquid gold that gives birth to culinary masterpieces - after seeing it being freshly cold pressed in front of my eyes, was the defining moment of my 'World Food Forum' experience. Having addressed the issue of dismally low land ownership by women in Punjab, a meagre 2% which is abysmally less than the national average, just a day before the visit, it was a fresh breath of life to visit the women-led cooperative farm in San Filipo Neri, Rome. From olive harvesting to segregation of leaves and twigs from the olives to cold-pressing the olives that gave us the extra virgin olive oil and leftover olive pomac (a residual paste that can be utilised as a bio-fertilizer later) to finally, tasting the fresh oil with bread, the process enabled me to experience the 'slowness and humanness' of growing and making food. It was a timely reminder that any conversation, policy-intervention or action to improve food is misguided if we are dissociated from our food systems. The detachment shows up in our disregard for the slow and natural and our preference for the fast and artificial. If you ever find yourself lost in life, look for the source of the food and water you consume. #rome #farm #fao #italy #olive #oil #sustainability #womenempowerment #farmers

This recipe is a creamy, delicious, and nutritious hummus substitute for avocado-based guacamole. You may have already heard the news – chefs around the world are ditching this unsustainable fruit! But why? For starters, avocados have a large carbon footprint compared to other produce and can require up to 320 liters of water to grow (versus just 5 liters per tomato!), making them unaffordable for the local communities where they are grown. In fact, they have become a global commodity, with rising demand resulting in deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and water shortages affecting several indigenous populations around the world. Zucchinis, on the other hand, have a lower carbon footprint producing less CO2 emissions compared to other fruits and vegetables, including avocados. This makes their production, which includes not only farming but also packaging, transportation, and storage, relatively sustainable without significant damage to the environment (air, water, land, soil, and so on). Couple them with some fresh cilantro or parsley and you have a vibrant green dip, similar to guacamole but with a smaller environmental impact. Read more in our blog post.
