There are many interesting Israeli games in the top charts of the data.ai annual report: Coin Master (Moon Active) (5th Grossing) Phone Case DIY (Crazylabs/Embracer) (6th Downloads) Bridge Race (Supersonic/Ironsource/Unity) (4th Downloads) Ilyon (1st match games) Mech Arena (Plarium) (3rd Shooting games) Dice Dreams and Domino Dreams (Superplay) (Top 5 Casino and Party games) * Alien Invasion (Crazylabs/MultiCast) and Bridge Race (Supersonic) are both listed in the Top Genre Per Market Concentration by Consumer Spend (under Hyper Casual), but I'm not sure whether it's a good or bad thing. Please submit your proposal to speak at the newly-rebranded Live Service Games Summit at GDC!! The call for submissions is now open. (Summits happen Monday/Tuesday of GDC week.) This is the nth renaming of a Summit that began as... let's see... tracing backwards: Live Service, Free-to-Play, Mobile, Social & Online, Casual, ??? We are now so inclusive as to cover any game that releases content after launch. Which is pretty much any game these days. But only the design and business aspects thereof! I guess it is a good thing that our little "casual" summit has grown into an authoritative view into such a massive, massive industry. We are super interested in your experience, ideas and data around how to drive excellence in acquisition, engagement, retention and <gasp!> monetization. The bar is always high with GDC talks, which is a good thing. If you have something to say I'm sure you can clear it. And your friendly neighborhood Summit Advisors are here to help! The only thing that comes faster than Christmas for a parent is GDC for a speaker. So don't delay; get your submission in ASAP!

I commend all of those that have the courage to create or attempt to create video games. To put into perspective from last year’s data on NewZoo, 14,532 ( ~15,000) games were released in 2023 on Steam. Of these, 48 accounted for 90% of the playtime (0.33% of games). 1,400+ accounted for the remaining 10% meaning many games didn’t even get played or were played very little 😱 (9.63% of games). This truly reiterates the passion that is necessary in this industry, as well as the drive, in order to create games. Not everyone will create a successful game, let alone create a successful game on the first go-around. This is not to deter anyone from creating because we cannot have GREAT new games without creating. It’s just so much harder than many want to believe. Don’t give up on the first go-around and don’t expect that this will be your income maker out the gate.
