In BIPOC communities, there is often a history of overcoming adversity, which may make talking about mental health struggles difficult. In honor of Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month (BIPOC Mental Health Month), we are committed to uplifting the voices of underrepresented communities whose mental health and well-being have been drastically affected by systemic racism. At Otsuka, we believe in health for every mind, of every race, gender, ethnicity, condition and beyond. We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable today for our patients, people, and communities. 💟 July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. This month serves as a crucial reminder of the unique challenges that racial and ethnic minorities in the United States face regarding mental health. 💟 Despite the growing awareness of mental health issues, disparities persist. In 2020, fewer than one in every two African American adults received the mental health care they needed. These statistics highlight the importance of continuing our efforts to break down barriers and create equitable access to mental health resources for all communities. 💫 Let's use this month to amplify voices, share resources, and support initiatives that address these disparities. By working together, we can improve the mental health outcomes of minority communities. 💫 #MentalHealthAwareness #MinorityMentalHealth #HealthEquity #BreakTheStigma #SupportMentalHealth #InclusiveHealthcare #CommunitySupport #MentalHealthMatters #EndTheStigma

July marks an important month in the mental health community - it's Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Unfortunately, mental health disparities persist in many marginalized communities, including racial and ethnic minorities and people with disabilities. Despite making up a significant portion of the global population, these groups often face barriers in accessing mental health care, stigmatization, and underrepresentation in mental health research. This month, we want to shine a light on these critical issues and work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. Let's use this opportunity to raise awareness about the unique mental health challenges faced by minority communities and work together to create a more equitable future for mental health. https://lnkd.in/ge7iybqs #minoritymentalhealthawarenessmonth

As we observe National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month this July, it’s imperative to bring attention to the added challenges faced by racial and ethnic minorities seeking mental health care, including: • Lack of diversity among mental health professionals • Language barriers • Limited access to culturally competent and informed care • Cultural stigmas surrounding mental health By prioritizing diverse representation in the mental health workforce, education around culturally competent support and care, community outreach, and addressing systemic barriers to care, we can work towards a mental health system that truly reaches and serves all communities, regardless of race, ethnicity, or background. Let’s continue the conversation and take action to make mental health support accessible, diverse, and equitable--all year round. #FrictionlessMentalHealth #MentalHealthEquity

Vice President & Head of Diversity, Equity Inclusion & Belonging | Driving Healthcare Transformation Through DEIB | Leading with ❤
Today is the start of BeBe Moore Campbell Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Why a mental health awareness month focused on minority communities? Because not everyone has equal and equitable access to mental health services due to inadequate provider networks, stigma, shame, or fear of judgment. In my role, which is focused on transforming healthcare through diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, it's critically important to raise awareness of the need for mental health equity. Culturally and ethnically competent mental health care shouldn’t be a luxury; it should be the norm in our society. #ShadesofMentalHealth #minoritymentalhealthawarenessmonth #bebemoorecampbell
