If you're looking for a way to give back to your local/national community this #givingtuesday, please consider #AmericaNeedsYou. They are a non-profit organization committed to helping first-generation college students navigate the challenges of graduating college and starting their careers. As a first-generation grad myself, I experienced what it's like to try to navigate a path that's unfamiliar to your existing circle. I have so much respect for the work organizations like ANY are doing to help bridge that gap through mentorship and networking. https://lnkd.in/d-KTC4h4

Hi LinkedIn friends, colleagues, and connections, In just over four hours Seattle Pacific University's (SPU) annual Giving Day fundraising event begins! Starting at midnight, April 3rd, 2024, SPU launches our largest annual fundraising campaign with the addition of a donor incentive competition structure. The Center for Career and Calling (CCC) needs your help to reach our goal of $2,000 to support our student-centered services and programming designed to help our students prepare for their transition to the working world. If you, or someone you know, are willing to donate I urge you to review these donor challenge guidelines below to help increase the impact of your donation. This year there are many ways to play, so here is the insider scoop on the Donor Challenges. There are three main challenges that help SPU departments and programs, participating in Giving Day, get bonus rewards when you donate. 1. First and last donation of the day challenge: --- The department or program that receives the first and/or last donation of the day will receive an additional $100. ---- The first donation after the event commences at 12am PST tonight, April 3rd, 2024, will receive an additional $100 bonus. ---- The last donation of the day has to be received before the event closes at 11:59 PM PST, April 3rd, 2024 to receive the additional $100 bonus. 2. Top 3 most donors challenge: ---The top three programs or departments that receive the highest number of donors [not necessarily the most money] will win an extra: ---- $1,500 for 1st place ---- $1,000 for 2nd place ---- $500 for 3rd place 3. 10+ donor challenge: --- When our department reached 10 donors, it will unlock an additional $100. Visit our Giving Day landing page to hear more about the impact of our department/services and what our goals are for the coming year. Thank you for any support you can offer!

Imagine a world where setbacks are simply stepping stones. A world where a change in direction is not seen as failure, but as an opportunity to discover hidden talents and uncover new passions. This is the world we invite you to explore on #NationalOpportunityDay on 9th August. It’s a world where limitations are shattered, and aspirations are embraced. Whether it’s vocational training, apprenticeships, work-based learning, or pursuing an alternative higher education path, National Opportunity Day celebrates all these options and more. No student should ever feel left behind. It’s never too late and there’s always a possibility. There’s something for everyone. We’re here to help you navigate through the maze of opportunities and find the path that resonates with you. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes, the path we envision takes a detour. But here’s the thing: that detour can lead us to remarkable opportunities we never even dreamed of. That’s what National Opportunity Day is all about – celebrating the boundless possibilities that await everyone, regardless of any disappointment or setbacks. A smooth ride is rare. Many students find themselves disappointed when they don’t achieve the results they hoped for, or secure the further education place they had set their heart on. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. However, this is not the end of the road. It’s just the beginning. National Opportunity Day is a day dedicated to shedding light on all the possible opportunities beyond the traditional route. We hope to inspire and empower students to embrace alternative options that can lead to a fulfilling and successful future. Check out the Awareness Days Calendar on aDoddle.org - Discover what's coming up in the next few months and at the same time why not search the Community Map to find amazing charities and community groups in your local area 🙂 https://lnkd.in/eB8dKfQE #Community #Charity #Awareness #CommunityMap 🗺️ #AwarenessDays

Leadership, Strategy, Website Management, Social Media, Community, Communications, B2B/B2C Digital Marketing, Insights, HR, Employee Engagement, Relations & Wellbeing. Advocates for apprenticeships.
In 2024 I made a pledge to myself to make a difference. ⭐ I'm determined to work towards that in a way that will impact more than just the industry I work in, so I am super excited to be supporting Apprentice Decent Wage Pledge and helping them in their mission to campaign for better, fairer more balanced wages for apprentices now and in the future. 🖤 I've chosen to support Apprentice Decent Wage Pledge and #BackTheFuture to make apprenticeships inclusive not exclusive. ⚖️ Whether through lower socio-economic backgrounds, or having a family or dependents to support, mid-career career-changers or not living locally to where an apprenticeship is based meaning increasing costs related to relocation and the uncertainty that can bring, just about anyone can be impacted by low apprenticeship wages. So I'm not only asking the games industry folk in my network to listen up, I'm asking employers of all sectors, particularly those running apprenticeship programs, but also those thinking of running programs to be part of the change. With more and more people out of work, with more graduates then ever unable to find work in their chosen degree, apprenticeships can provide an incredible solution, but the low wages often cause more blockers to entry than you'd imagine. ⚫ ⭐ Lets be the change we want to see in the world... #ADWP #BackTheFuture #Apprenticeships #SkillsForLife #PledgeToday #Recruitment #ApprenticeshipsForAll #ApprenticeDecentWagePledge
Finding a balance... ⚖️ The minimum wage for apprenticeships has a significant impact on both individuals & society as a whole. 🌍 Finding a balance between paying apprentices fairly and ensuring that minimum wage does not limit participation in apprenticeships, or increase reliance of government benefits is key to creating a sustainable and effective apprenticeship system. #BackTheFuture ⭐ Help to address low apprenticeship wages by joining our campaign and doing your bit to Back the Future. Not only will this ensure more completion rates on apprenticeships training professionals, but will also increase the candidate pool for recruiting apprentices across all sectors reducing blockers to entry for future apprentices from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Lets work together to make apprenticeships inclusive, not exclusive. ✨ Join the pledge: https://lnkd.in/duB57yJS #ADWP #BackTheFuture #Apprenticeships #SkillsForLife #PledgeToday #Recruitment #ApprenticeshipsForAll #ApprenticeDecentWagePledge

Its been incredible to witness a huge volume of awareness promotion for Apprenticeships this week, we've seen great conversations had & events attended, but as an employer you can still have a positive impact on the future of your apprenticeship programs. We've already seen Baltic Apprenticeships doing their bit to #BackTheFuture this week, will you be next? 📣📣📣 Back the future by joining the Apprentice Decent Wage (ADW) pledge - helping to address apprenticeship low wages & by doing so, increasing the number of candidates for apprenticeship vacancies & successful completions across all sectors. 💛 📝 https://lnkd.in/duB57yJS #NationalApprenticeshipWeek2024 #NAW2024 #Apprenticeships #SkillsForLife #PledgeToday #Apprentices #Employers #CostOfLiving #SupportingOurCommunity #YouthEmpowerment #LivingCosts #SupportingApprenticeships

GIVING DAY IS HERE!! Our office, Virginia Tech Career and Professional Development (CPD), is accepting donations as a part of #VTGivingDay from now until noon tomorrow (2/22). Every dollar you donate will go directly to CPD to help students in need! Did you know that the average wage for an intern is $20.76/hour, and the average wage for a student on co-op is $20.20/hour? (https://lnkd.in/emaJZg8f) Without the financial support of these wages, many students are unable to cover the costs of unpaid internships. Virginia Tech Career and Professional Development wants to help fill these gaps for students, and we need YOUR help. By contributing to our Giving Day fund, you can help support Hokies in unpaid internships and offset other hidden costs of participating in internships such as the cost of transportation, housing, relocation, required work attire and materials, and other living expenses. If you are interested in donating, please follow this link before tomorrow (2/22) at 12:00 PM; https://lnkd.in/eDWKYb6H. We are excited to see these funds put to use because of your generosity!

At Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads, we recognize the importance of collaboration with local businesses to ensure the success of our programs. Here are some examples of how these partnerships can benefit early childhood education: -Donations and Sponsorships: Local businesses can provide financial support for early childhood education initiatives, such as school supply drives or after-school programs. This can help to ensure that children have access to the resources they need to succeed in school. -Volunteer Opportunities: Businesses can offer their employees opportunities to volunteer with early childhood education programs. This can help to build a sense of community and give employees a chance to give back to their local community. -Internships and Job Shadowing: Local businesses can offer internships or job shadowing opportunities to high school students interested in pursuing careers in education. This can give students valuable experience and help to build a pipeline of future educators. -In-Kind Donations: Businesses can also provide in-kind donations, such as books, toys, or other resources that can be used in early childhood education programs. This can help to ensure that programs have the resources they need to provide high-quality education to young children. At Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads, we are committed to building strong partnerships with local businesses to support early childhood education. By working together, we can help to ensure that all children have access to the resources and support they need to succeed in school and in life. Visit our website to learn more about how you can help a student in need. #allinforkids #cisofhr #hamptonroads #communitysupport #earlychildhoodeducation
