Progress update on my IWD dress Today, I'm reflecting on the biases we face and how they shape our experiences. As I choose patterns and cuts, I'm mindful of creating a design that challenges traditional notions and celebrates diversity. It's more than a dress; it's a statement about bias, urging us to look beyond stereotypes. Every stitch is a step towards inclusivity. #ChallengeBias #DiversityInDesign #IWDPrep

At The Wilf Ward Family Trust, we're committed to fostering inclusivity, especially during festive times. Recently, we stumbled upon an enlightening article emphasising the importance of creating accessible content for all. The traditional pairing of green and red, while symbolising festivity, inadvertently creates hurdles for individuals with sight loss or colour blindness. Research by the NHS reveals that approximately 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women experience colour vision deficiency, affecting nearly 2 million people in the UK. The low colour contrast between these hues poses challenges for these individuals. Understanding and implementing high colour contrast palettes on websites isn't just an act of inclusivity; it's a strategic move for businesses. Enhancing colour contrast ensures clear and distinct content for a broader audience, showcasing a dedication to diversity and inclusion. To support businesses in creating accessible content, we found some invaluable resources that not only explore colour contrast but also offer accessible colour combinations. Discover how your business can benefit from inclusive design practices by exploring this link to the AccessibilityChecker.org - Colour Contrast Checker: https://bit.ly/4ag5I9v Additionally, explore accessible colour combinations using this tool: https://bit.ly/3toDqsw Join us in making the online world more accessible and inviting for everyone, not just during the festive season, but every day. These articles have been incredibly enlightening, and we're thrilled to share what we've learned. #InclusiveFestivities #AccessibleDesign #ColorContrastAwareness #InclusiveContent #AccessibleChristmas #ProudToBeWilfWard RNIB The Partially Sighted Society Fight for Sight

Just A Thought….. While it's true that some fashion brands might use inclusivity primarily as a marketing strategy to tap into new customer bases and enhance their public image, it's important to consider the broader context and potential benefits: 1. **Increased Visibility**: Even if the initial motivation is financial, featuring models with disabilities increases visibility and representation. This can have a positive impact by normalizing diverse bodies and abilities in mainstream media. 2. **Consumer Awareness**: Brands that embrace inclusive fashion, even for profit-driven reasons, can raise awareness among consumers about the importance of diversity. This can drive demand for more inclusive practices across the industry. 3. **Industry Standards**: When major brands adopt inclusive practices, it can set new standards within the fashion industry. Competitors may follow suit, leading to wider changes that benefit people with disabilities. 4. **Dialogue and Advocacy**: The inclusion of models with disabilities, regardless of motivation, sparks conversations about representation, accessibility, and the need for more inclusive practices. This dialogue can lead to meaningful advocacy and change. 5. **Empowerment and Opportunity**: Models with disabilities gain valuable opportunities and visibility, which can help them build their careers and inspire others. This can have a ripple effect, encouraging more people with disabilities to pursue careers in fashion and related fields. 6. **Critical Examination**: Public and media scrutiny of brands' motivations can push companies to adopt more genuine, long-term commitments to inclusivity. Consumers today are savvy and often demand authenticity from the brands they support. While it's important to critically assess the motivations behind inclusive practices, the outcomes can still contribute to positive change. Encouraging authenticity and holding brands accountable ensures that inclusivity becomes more than just a marketing strategy and leads to genuine, lasting improvements in representation and accessibility. #InclusiveFashion #RepresentationMatters #HoldBrandsAccountable #FashionForAll

💄 #Ableism in Beauty At Lebubè, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. This #DisabilityPrideMonth, we want to highlight some challenges faced by people with disabilities in the beauty industry: 🔹 Representation: Many feel underrepresented in beauty campaigns and media. The lack of visibility can perpetuate stereotypes and make it difficult for people with disabilities to see themselves reflected in beauty standards. 🔹 Accessibility: From product packaging to store layouts, accessibility remains a significant barrier. Simple tasks, such as opening a product or navigating a store, can be challenging for those with physical disabilities. 🔹 Product Design: Beauty products are not always designed with all users in mind. Inclusive design is essential to ensure that everyone can use and enjoy beauty products comfortably and confidently. Delve deeper into these issues in our blog post here: https://lnkd.in/dUQDnNNb Join us in breaking down barriers and celebrating the beauty in diversity. #InclusiveBeauty

In February 2018 we introduced our Ageism Is Never In Style® pins/badges to coincide with London Fashion Week, as a call to action to champion age-inclusivity. The response was incredible, and they have gone on to become a mainstay and symbol of the anti-ageism / pro-age movement, with them being worn globally as a sign of unity and empowerment. We love hearing stories of wearing them or even distributing them at events & parties, and how they spark vital conversations amongst all ages. We are honoured that so many wear them proudly. Listen Up! Let's talk about fashion and disability. It's time to break down barriers and redefine what inclusive fashion means. For too long, the fashion industry has overlooked the needs of people with disabilities, but things are starting to change. Adaptive fashion is about more than just functionality; it’s about empowering individuals to express their unique style and feel confident in their clothing choices. Designing for disability involves considering a wide range of needs, from easy closures and comfortable fits to stylish designs that cater to different body types and mobility issues. This movement is not just about accessibility; it’s about embracing diversity and ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to look and feel their best. As someone deeply invested in this cause, I’m proud to be part of a growing community that’s advocating for more inclusive fashion. By raising awareness and pushing for more adaptive clothing options, we can create a world where fashion truly belongs to everyone. Let’s continue the conversation and support brands that prioritize inclusivity. Together, we can make a difference. #AdaptiveFashion #InclusiveDesign #FashionForAll #Empowerment
