Many people questioned why I and many others spent so much time working on the development of the EduSpots network over 💃 🥂 or making💰. It was because we could see the direct outcomes of the effort put in, and the significance of the change being created by and for remarkable human beings. We feel proud to share these output statistics from the last quarter in EduSpots - all driven through a 100% volunteer-driven model at the community level and a relatively low (streamlined!) organisational budget. And how do we achieve this? By bringing people together who are genuinely committed to a vision of enabling communities to come together to create the futures they want to see through education. Through investing in the development and growth of a network of 300 local Changemakers, believing in their potential to be social leaders regardless of their education experience, profession or age. The responsibility for change genuinely lies with the communities themselves, who have all played a pivotal role in the development of our model and grassroots network. 📈 We are looking forward to sharing the growth in the next quarter, and sharing further details on outcomes and evidence of impact at the end of 2024! 🥂 Kudos to all the Catalysts in EduSpots, whose efforts this reflects. While the South grows and transforms, our systems of education remain locked in historic patterns of disinvestment and inequality. In some of these states, like Tennessee, the money is already there. It's a matter of deciding to invest in all the children of the South.

Parent involvement and leadership increases student success and decreases the risk for child abuse and neglect! It is essential to successful programs. Parent involvement and engagement also improves diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. I am proud to work for KCSL, an agency that not only talks about parent involvement and leadership, but that hires employees who have lived experience and have participated in the programs they work with. This is not a trend, it is the standard.
