An open letter to the new UK Government from the LGBTQIA+ community. 👇 Congratulations to the Labour party for their landslide victory. It is obvious that the country does not buy into the outgoing government's anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric. So it's finally time to stop using the LGBTQIA+ community for political theatre. Instead, it's time to start investing in LGBTQIA+ mental healthcare. It's time to start respecting the human rights of trans+ communities. To our Labour government, here are 4 key areas that needs your immediate attention from the LGBTQIA+ community: 1. Stop the rollbacks in gender-affirming care 🏳️⚧️ 2. Scrap the "new section 28" statutory guidance banning gender identity discussions in schools 🎒 3. Invest in LGBTQIA+ mental health pathways in the NHS for those dealing with stigma, gender dysphoria, and identity-related stress 🏥 4. Respect the humanity and dignity of trans+ people ✊ The UK is no longer the beacon for LGBTQIA+ human rights as it once was. But the new government has the power and public mandate to make substantial strides. Let’s ensure that the UK is a leader in LGBTQIA+ rights and healthcare once again, from all of us at Voda: The LGBTQIA+ Mental Wellness App. 🌈 #LGBTQIA+ #HumanRights #UKElections #Labour

2moWas talking about you today at a London Ambulance Service NHS Trust event on inclusivity and diversity. One of the key themes was solidarity across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum - and the fact that society needs a scapegoat (currently the trans community). The statsitic that shocked me the most… ⬇️ There is apparently a 5 year wait for NHS mental health support around trans issues. This is unacceptable and needs to change. I really hope that Voda: The LGBTQIA+ Mental Wellness App is adopted by the NHS and that everyone who needs support can access it. Keep doing the good work you are doing, Jaron, Kris and Chris.
