If you didn’t know yet, I’m a Pixar fan, and yesterday I braved the cold and a low-grade fever (not contagious don’t worry) to go see one of their best works to date— the 2020 movie “Soul.” The movie is making its theatrical release now, but Pixar doesn’t seem to have a budget to market it. And that’s a shame because, as I said, it’s one of the best works by Pixar Animation Studios to date. So I’m here doing my part in the name of the artists who helped turn such a hard concept into a visual story, in such a beautiful way, and asking you to go watch it if you can. Regardless of what you think of Disney right now. Because I’m telling you, you won’t regret getting your buns out of the house to see it. Soul’s Logline: After landing the gig of a lifetime, a New York jazz pianist suddenly finds himself trapped in a strange land between Earth and the afterlife. Side note: animation is not only for kids. Especially this one! Image description: a selfie of me, I’m sitting on a red movie theater chair, wearing a winter beanie and a light gray hoodie with the Pixar logo, a luxo light and a ball, and the name Pixar under it. #Pixar #PixarSoul #MoviesToWatch #entertainment

If there’s any filmmakers on Earth who can take a cloudy concept and make it crystal clear, it’s the Pixar Animation Studios gang. Time after time, they’ve managed to visualise human experiences that are tough to unpack (think of the wordless opening sequence in UP, which became an instant cultural milestone). The goal for Inside Out 2? Gently examine aspects of mental health and render them not just digestible for kids, but enjoyable for anyone. It’s no easy task. Too sophisticated and it’d be dull; too simplistic and we’d get a sugary sweet metaphor. But Pixar don’t set themselves easy tasks. Read more about how Inside Out 2 crafted a satisfying narrative in an invisible world in my deep dive for good.film. https://lnkd.in/gj9cuZGc #anxiety #socialimpactentertainment #insideout2 #pixar #filmdiscussion

“I read somewhere that an empty room is an opportunity.” -Joy Favourite quote and scene from the 2015 Pixar classic, Inside Out. I have yet to watch the much talked about Inside Out 2, but now that I think of it, the original was much ahead of its time—tackling the subject of emotional intelligence (EQ) in a profoundly insightful way. With the sequel now out, the film has hit a staggering $1 billion at the global box office, clearly resonating with audiences around the world. The storyline of Inside Out is one that shows us that emotions are meant to be felt, not suppressed. Even the ones we perceive as "negative," serve an important purpose. This graphic from Six Seconds beautifully illustrates the layered, interconnected nature of human emotions. It's fascinating to see how different feelings can combine and coexist within a single experience. This makes it easier to identify and understand the nuances of our own emotional landscape. Can’t wait to see how the filmmakers build upon the foundation in the sequel! #InsideOut #Feelings #Emotions #EmotionalIntelligence #HumanBehaviour Pixar Animation Studios

🎬 a funny sunday's little exercise. Think of it as a "tribute" to Pixar, it was more or less the idea behind today's exercise: to be able to generate 3D portraits, realistic and cartoony, and try to animate the whole thing, with a touch of little humor and lightness. 🎺 A Sinatra's song and the "bip" between each "interview", it of course accentuates that Pixar look. The idea of adding voices came up during editing, when I thought it might be a shame to see them speak without hearing them. #Midjourney for images. KLING - AI Videos v1.5 for animations #ElevenLabs for voices and sound fx. #CapCut for Editing. The boss, "Chairman of the Board" Frank Sinatra for the music.

WHAT IS ‘PIXAR THEORY’? Have you ever observed that every Pixar film takes place in the same timeline, with Easter eggs and subtle references linking them together? If YES, then you qualify as a member of the global fan club of Pixar movies and esp. believe in Pixar Theory! Pixar Theory is a widely discussed fan theory, which suggests that all Pixar movies exist within the same interconnected universe. For example: >> Every Pixar film takes place in the same timeline, with Easter eggs and subtle references linking them together. >> Any movie of Pixar follows a chronological order, with events in one film interconnected or leading to the next. HOW DID IT ALL START? In 2009, a CityNews article in Toronto, probably discussed connections between several Pixar films for the first time. This was followed by a video – “After Hours” – published in in 2013, which supported this observation. Around the same year, a passionate YouTuber named Jon Negroni proposed a detailed timeline and narrative connection of all Pixar movies released around that time. He also incorporated concepts like importance of human emotions animal sentience, and a technological timeline tied to human advancements. His theory gained traction through his website and social media presence. His YouTube channel Super Carlin Brothers further popularized it with video breakdowns and analyses. Subsequently, as new Pixar films were released, Negroni and other fans adapted the theory to incorporate them. Different interpretations and variations emerged, offering alternative timelines and explanations. Pixar Animation Studios however doesn’t endorse this; but acknowledges the creativity and enthusiasm of its fan base, by playful inclusion of Easter Eggs. Did you observe any commonality in any other series of movies by any other company? And in India too? (The YouTube video below gives a complete detailed discussion on Pixar Theory) #Pixar #Movie #FilmProduction #FilmMaking #PassionForMovies #MovieMarketing #Marketing Earth Films #PixarTheory

What do “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” and “Coco” share? 🚀🐠💀 All these great films were created at Pixar, the amazing computer animation studio. I just finished reading “Creativity, Inc.” by Ed Catmull, a Pixar co-founder. What a fascinating book! It narrates Pixar’s history from Ed’s point of view. From its origins as a technology company to the final acquisition by Disney. It is Ed’s way of sharing the management principles that made Pixar such a groundbreaking company. My key learning? Pixar’s ability to create great teams through a culture of openness and continuous learning. One critical development is the creation of the Braintrust - a group within Pixar whose task is to provide candid feedback to improve each movie. This diverse group meets regularly with the film team to provide them with candid feedback on every aspect of the film including the story. According to Ed, all films “suck” when they first start, but it’s this collaborative refining process, with no fear, that leads results that make everyone proud. For those keen on building great teams or fascinated by storytelling and cinema, this is a must-read. #Leadership #Innovation #Creativity #ProblemSolving #Teamwork #Feedback

Innovation = f(Willfullness + Patience). Extended Dance Mix Version Continuing to read Ed Catmull's Creativity Inc. He describes how now-accepted innovations were either not understood, resisted, or both, as they began to arise even in a creative environment such as animation, film, and Hollywood. This seems to suggest that, in any environment, a big benefit is normally naturally resisted; human nature is to favor what is understood and comfortable and, more specifically, the natural reaction to a possibility or opportunity is not winsome followership but a degree of cynicism and resignation. This implies that we can and should be careful of treating resistance as criticism. It is more likely just fear and an incubating need for an audience to come to a level of understanding regarding 'what' and 'why'. A few examples Catmull describes include using computers to model shapes with no flat features (animation), creating natural blur (avoiding the jarring effect seen when sharply-drawn images are shown in series), non-linear editing (departure from physical cutting of film reels), and digital scanning (filming model elements against a 'blue' screen instead of a painted background). #culture #leadership #management #transformation #turnaround #strategy #planning #performance #mindset #engagement #customerexperience #innovation #disney #apple #pixar #lucasfilm #marvel #herosjourney
