This week, I had the pleasure of attending the Hawke's Bay Tourism Industry Association evening at Pask Winery Ltd. It was an inspiring opportunity to acknowledge the incredible work of our Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) in promoting our beautiful region. Their efforts are helping to restore visitor numbers to pre-COVID levels—a significant achievement that benefits not only our tourism sector but also the entire regional economy. Tourism is a cornerstone of Hawke's Bay's economy, contributing a remarkable $700 million annually. It's not just about the dollars, though—tourism brings vibrancy, new ideas, and connections to our community. Visitors often fall in love with our region, and some even decide to stay, building successful local businesses that enrich our community further. Tourism is not just an economic driver but a storyteller for our region. Hawke's Bay Tourism excels at sharing what makes us unique—whether it's our stunning landscapes, world-class wineries, or vibrant cultural offerings. Our passionate local operators ensure every visitor leaves with memorable experiences, creating advocates for our region around the globe. Now is the time to double down on supporting and funding HB Tourism. A proven model is in place, and the results speak for themselves. Investing in this sector is investing in the future of our region—economically, culturally, and socially. Equines Significantly Impact Tourism Dollars ... Ocala/Marion County Celebrates Travel and Tourism Week Equine-generated dollars are a significant part of the tourism equation in the Horse Capital of the World ®. According to the 2023 American Horse Council study, non-horse owning participant and spectator travel, dining and lodging equates to a $2.7 billion in total economic impact in Florida. The readers of the North American magazine Travel + Leisure have once again surrendered to the charms of the Madeira Islands. The results of the World's Best Awards—a poll that the magazine organizes every year that highlights the best tourist destinations, attractions, and accommodations—have now been announced and Madeira features in three different rankings. Madeira Island was voted one of the 25 best islands in the world to visit this year, with readers highlighting features such as the good year-round weather, the Laurissilva Forest and gastronomy. Funchal was voted both the 10th Best City in the World and the 2nd Best City in Europe to visit in 2024.  In this 29th edition of the World Best Awards, a staggering 186,000 readers from around the world participated in the voting, which accounted for around 700,000 registered votes. #visitmadeira #madeiraislands #madeirabelongstoall
