Members from Tourism WA’s Destination Development team recently travelled to Wooramel Station on Australia’s Coral Coast to connect with industry operators for the WA Station Stay workshop.    Over 25 industry members attended the workshop, which included presentations from guest speakers on destination marketing, development grants and workforce initiatives.    Designed to support the development of WA Station Stays as a must-do tourism experience, the workshop was organised by WA Regional Tourism Organisations Australia’s Golden Outback and Australia’s Coral Coast.    Learn more about WA Station Stays here: https://bit.ly/3Z9Z0Np

🌐 Transforming Pacific Tourism through Digital Innovation The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has partnered with Trove Tourism Development Advisors under the New Zealand Government-funded Pacific Digital Tourism Transformation Project (Phase 2) to upgrade the digital platforms of National Tourism Organizations (NTOs). 📍 Targeted countries include Timor Leste, Nauru, Tonga, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Marshall Islands. Today at Palazzo Pepoli, together with Roberta Frisoni, Assessora Tourism, Commerce, and Sports of the Regione Emilia-Romagna, Mattia Santori, President of #TerritorioTuristicoBolognaModena, and Daniele Ravaglia, President of Fondazione Bologna Welcome, we presented the tourism data of #Bologna in 2024. 2024 has confirmed itself as a year of growth for tourism in Bologna, with figures in line with the positive results recorded in the previous two-year period: arrivals and stays have increased both in the city (+6% and +13% respectively) and in the metropolitan area (+6% and +10%). The increase in the metropolitan area especially shows that the work done in recent years to expand the tourist interest area and redistribute tourist flows throughout the territory is yielding positive results. This is a stable growth, balanced with the city: despite some more evident peaks, it is interesting to note how occupancy has remained steady and constant throughout the year, even during traditionally less attractive periods, such as summer, which in the past was characterized by fewer trade fairs and less tourist appeal. A rich tourism, cultural, and sports program, as well as a very balanced offer between business and leisure, helped spread flows throughout the year. Tourism also continues to confirm itself as a crucial economic growth driver, by generating over one billion euros in induced revenue for Bologna in one year, as well as creating new jobs. Data is key for managing a tourist destination: our goal is not to measure results per-se, but to use insights from data to make better, more strategic decisions that benefit both tourists and the local community. Fondazione Bologna Welcome will continue working in this direction, focusing on the quality of hospitality and the tourist offer as well as to ensure a balance between tourism and the local community.

For instance, cities like Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro have leveraged these events to enhance urban infrastructure and global visibility, which continue to serve tourists long after the events have concluded. The allure of such events is potent; they offer a compelling reason for tourists to visit, often during off-peak seasons, thereby helping to smooth seasonal fluctuations in tourist numbers.
