🇺🇸 Reflecting on Growth and Team Values this Memorial Day Weekend This Memorial Day weekend, I took some time off to enjoy wine tasting and reflect on the future of TAP for Hire. As a solopreneur, I'm excited about growing my business, but I often think back to my time as a leader in my previous role. Leading and developing a team was incredibly fulfilling, and I aim to bring that same energy and passion to TAP for Hire. Creating the right culture is paramount. Inspired by the spirit of Semper Fi – "Always Faithful" – I want to build a team that embodies values of integrity, accountability, and mutual support. In our team: 🛡️ No one gets left behind. We support each other through thick and thin. 🤝 We have each other's backs. Collaboration and trust are our foundation. 🏆 We all win together. CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES WISELY AND WIN THEM. Winning battles (in and out of the office) can work wonders for one’s career. But not all battles are winable nor should we take them all. Whatever your reason is, make sure you don’t end up being that person who usually takes on the world (or at least every issue) and lose miserably in the process. Be picky. Take on issues that you feel strongly about and very familiar with. Always focus on facts, not feelings; and keep an open mind. Dare to say, "Yes!" My brother and (now) sister-in-law both did on this beautiful Oregon beach last week. Actually, the "Yes!" I'm referring to was my answer when they asked me to officiate their wedding some time ago. Why would I focus on that answer? Because the easier answer for me would have been, "No." "No" is easy because it's easier to stand on the sidelines and not take a risk. There's no pressure; just show up on time (we arrived at the last minute - but that's another story!). But, there's also no reward. There would have been no joy in being right next to my brother as he cried while reciting his vows (so did I). No joy in seeing my future sister-in-law walk down to the beach that we'd been vacationing at since we were kids. And, no reward in knowing I helped those dear to me when they asked for me to be there for them. So, I ask you: Have you been offered an opportunity to do something that is in alignment with your values? If so, would it be challenging - even difficult - to agree to do that something? While deciding, I urge you to consider how you will feel about your decision after the opportunity has concluded. "When you know your WHY, your WHAT becomes more impactful because you are walking towards or in your purpose" - Michael Jr. I found my WHY over 22 years ago when the financial institution I worked with at the time trained me to be a Sales Trainer. I had a "eureka" moment when I conducted my first training session as I realized then that this is what I was meant to do, adding value to others by helping them to grow. Which is the reason I later joined the Maxwell Leadership team and became certified as a Speaker and Trainer, gaining the ability to provide training in other areas, including How to be a "C.L.E.A.R." Success. It's exciting to now provide training also on Communication skills, Leadership skills, Equipping yourself and others to grow, the importance of your Attitude, and how to build Relationships, all important success-building areas that are not taught to us in schools. One of the participants at a recent Leadership training described my training as "life-changing". This was fulfilling to hear as it shows that in pursuing my Why and walking in my purpose, I am indeed making an impact on others' lives.
