NEW WORKFORCE PROGRAM: Maine's $3.4 billion outdoor recreation economy has a bright future as ORR and Maine Outdoor Brands are excited to announce a new program to define outdoor industry jobs and expand career pathways across the Pine Tree State. The program will include: - Planning a Maine outdoor recreation K-12 career path strategy to foster early exposure to outdoor careers and build career perceptions among young people. - Marketing initiatives to define and promote careers in Maine's outdoor industry, including the creation and distribution of “Day in the Life” videos showcasing employees and entrepreneurs in action. - Outreach across Maine via classroom and campus events, engaging leaders from the outdoor industry to directly connect with students. - Research to enable better alignment between Maine's educational institutions and outdoor industry needs. “Maine’s outdoor recreation industry is a cornerstone of our economy and identity, but workforce challenges hinder its growth,” said Jenny Kordick, Executive Director of Maine Outdoor Brands. “This pilot program is a game-changer. By defining and promoting outdoor industry jobs, we can strengthen career pathways and inspire a new generation to build meaningful, impactful careers in the outdoor sector."

I'm not sure this is based on scientific research but what do you think? Image: a quote by Henry Ford that reads, "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young." The quote is set against a vibrant blue background with a deep red frame. At the top left corner, there's a small colourful, abstract tree representing development.

When I was a student ambassador at Swansea University, I didn’t just represent my university—I represented the dreams of every student I met. I loved being their go-to person, answering their questions, helping them make sense of their options, and sharing in their excitement when they found the path that felt right for them. Back then, it felt like a small role, just a way to give back to the university community. But looking back now, I realize it was so much more. It was the foundation for everything I do today. Fast forward to now, I’ve taken that love for connection and turned it into a career in social media marketing and recruitment. And along the way, I’ve learned a few things: 📌 Every message we share can strike a chord with someone. 📌 Every interaction is a chance to inspire. 📌 Every story we tell can build a bridge between people and opportunities. Whether it’s helping a client find their voice online, recruiting the right talent for a company, or creating campaigns that truly speak to people, my goal has always been simple: to connect, empower, and make an impact. ✨ Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for the journey. Social media marketing, for me, isn’t about chasing trends or algorithms—it’s about people. It’s about telling stories that matter and creating something meaningful. P.S.- Our student ambassador uniform made us stand out like human highlighters. #socialmediamarketing #recruitment #studentrecruitment #university #storytelling

I remember moving into my first-year university accommodation like it was yesterday… All your life, you hear, "I wish I could go back to school, time goes so fast," but you never really believe it until the weekend before graduation, as you prepare for a new stage of adulthood. Over the past three years, I've learned so much, both academically and interpersonally. 1. If you need help, ask for it. It's better to seek help before you're in a situation you can't get out of, even with assistance. 2. Things will never go exactly as planned. Be adaptable to change; it will be one of your greatest assets. 3. Tenacity is your ticket to success. Be relentless. Not getting an opportunity you wanted is disheartening, but a "no" is just another step closer to a "yes." 4. Be unapologetically yourself. People can tell when you're being disingenuous; we're social creatures and can sense when something is "off." I'll be sure to post graduation photographs on here when I graduate on Tuesday. And to any of my fellow graduates, in or out of industry...this is only the beginning. #GraduatingClassOf24 #Advertising #Graduate

Career Day’s Outreach Program: Success for Student Engagement Lorenzo G. DeBellis and @Lizzette Bravo, advisors and @Diego Fonteca for the Los Altos Career Zone, Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, California hosted a Career Day event on November 6th, attracting over 90 students. This initiative aimed to shed light on the Manufacturing sector CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathway, demonstrating how career day’s outreach programs can significantly boost student engagement and interest in various career fields. Engaging Presentations from Industry Leaders Alex Flores MA, @Alfredo Salazar, and @Oscar Ruiz, Representatives from Teamsters Union Local 630 and LaVenta Wooten the Human Resources manager from Alta Dean Dairy, a division of Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), were the highlights of the event, offering insights into the manufacturing industry. They also elaborated on the benefits package, which includes a pension plan, 401K plan, comprehensive health insurance, and vacation pay. These benefits underscore the security and support that a union job can offer. Following the presentation, many students asked for additional information and were invited to visit the Teamsters’ offices for a closer look at what union membership entails. Alta Dean Dairy: is a division of Dairy Farmers of America. LaVenta Wooten, the Human Resources manager, brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the event. Hello LinkedIn community, Today, I want to share a personal journey that's been filled with challenges, determination, and a deep passion for marketing. In 2019, I arrived in Canada thinking it to be the land of opportunities. Alongside my studies, I worked in retail, where I developed invaluable skills in customer service and interpersonal communication. Jan 2023, graduated from York University with a degree in psychology and embarked on a career transition into marketing. I believed my background in psychology would greatly benefit me in marketing—after all, marketing revolves around understanding people. I was confident that my undergraduate studies would provide a solid foundation, allowing me to leverage my insights into human behaviour to excel in marketing roles. However, upon graduating, reality hit hard. Despite my academic achievements, landing a job in marketing proved daunting without hands-on experience. Faced with countless rejections, I persisted, working full-time in retail while tirelessly applying for opportunities. It was during this time that I made a pivotal decision—to pursue a postgraduate degree in marketing, hoping to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Today, nearly a year into my studies, I stand on the brink of completing my certification, eager to apply my newfound knowledge in a real-world setting. Yet, the journey hasn't been without its setbacks. Interview after interview, I encountered the same feedback: "We're looking for someone with more experience." It's a paradox many of us face—how to gain experience without being given the chance. Despite the challenges, I remain unwavering in my pursuit of a career in marketing. I bring a unique blend of academic insight and real-world customer interaction skills, gained through years in retail, to any team I join. My journey is a testament to resilience and the belief that with determination and support, I am navigating the challenges with optimism and persistence, confident that the right opportunity is on the horizon. I invite you to connect with me if you have insights, opportunities, or simply want to share experiences in the dynamic world of marketing. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. #journey #canada #marketing #opportunities #coop # digitalmedia

I made a resolution in the New Year: to take more photos! Side note- I've realized I'm often the one snapping pictures, missing out on being in those special moments. But, being behind the lens shouldn't mean missing out on the experience. So, here's to embracing a new perspective! Looking back on my early days at Capital City College Group, I remember feeling a mix of nerves and excitement when leading employability sessions and work experience briefs. Transitioning from a role focused on sourcing placements was a challenge. However, those challenges have been invaluable in shaping my confidence. One piece of advice I gave a student really hit home: "Being professional doesn't mean hiding who you are." This insight helped me find my stride. I learned to prioritize transparency and seeking input from colleagues with diverse expertise when I am in need of inspiration. These steps has shaped me in to the professional that I am today. These lessons extend beyond my personal growth to benefit our work experience initiatives. Encouraging students to build genuine relationships with employers without being robotic and to ask questions if they are in need of clarity. Transparency in the work place promotes self-fulfilment as students feel valued for their identity as well as their abilities. So, here's to embracing authenticity and seizing every opportunity to capture the essence of our journey, in photos and in life. 😎 #Westminsterkingswaycollege#westking#workexperiencecoordinator#employerengagement#workexperience#education#capitalcitycollege#
