Different Types: There are various types of brake fluids, primarily classified as DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5.1. DOT 3 and DOT 4 are glycol-based and can absorb water, while DOT 5 is silicone-based and does not absorb water, making it suitable for specific applications. High Boiling Point: Brake fluid needs a high boiling point to withstand the intense heat generated during braking. If the fluid boils, it can create vapor bubbles, leading to a spongy brake pedal and reduced braking efficiency, which is why maintaining the right type and quality of brake fluid is crucial for safety.
