So to like a full circle moment that the first retailer to ever take us was Walmart was insane. So I love to go to the next question and what was her eye made it moment. Honestly, being able to do this every single day to live out my passion, my dream that's every day is like an animated moment for me. So for that, I would say every day, but I will say this, my brand tastes allowed the first time we got into retail and that retail being Walmart and going into Walmart where I would shop at and funniest story, I'll make it quick, but when I like when my mom kicked me out, I was my rent was 400 bucks. I really was only making 400 bucks a month on YouTube. So like, all that extra change I had, I would have to just, like, make it work for food. So I would go into the aisles of Walmart to see what I could afford, like through the frozen food section. So to like a full circle moment that the first retailer to ever take us was Walmart was insane. So yeah, that was definitely like, I made a moment, yeah.

24 years ago, Spanx didn’t just change how women dressed—it transformed how women dreamed about business and possibility. 🌟
Seeing Sara Blakely share that Sneex made Oprah’s Favorite Things sparked a powerful reminder: passion, perseverance, and a clear vision can lead to incredible heights.
It’s proof that when you trust your purpose and take bold leaps, the universe has a way of meeting you halfway. 💫
What’s a pivotal moment in your journey where following your intuition led to something amazing? Share your story—I’d love to celebrate it with you! 🙌

I can’t believe it’s been 24 years since Oprah Winfrey named Spanx as one of her Favorite Things... an announcement that changed my little brand’s life. ❤️ And it’s just happened again with Sneex ?! Somebody pinch me. If you know my story you know that I created Spanx after getting a sign from the universe while watching Oprah’s show... and having her choose Sneex 24 years later is a truly mind-blowing, humbling and exciting moment for us. Thank you Oprah for shining a light on small businesses for so many years... you make so many dreams come true! #entrepreneurs#womensupportingwomen#oprah

Thanks to Yinka A. for moderating, Regina Public Library for hosting and all of the panellists.
I really enjoyed this event and came away with pages of good advice to think about.
I especially enjoyed the conversation about #flearning or "It's learning, not failing". The goal isn't to fail fast, it's to learn fast. T
Mitigate Your Risks
* Know you numbers, have a plan, know when things are working and when they are not. Check in on your ideas after 6 months, drop anything that's not working and consider adding new offerings.
* Have a backup plan ready
* Having other income sources and savings can reduce personal risk. Taking a part-time job, living off a partner's salary, whatever it takes to mitigate your personal downside
Be Resilient
* Dare to Do, that's how dreams are achieved
* You are not your product/offering. Criticism will help you improve your offering, it's not a personal slight or commentary on yourself
* You'll have up months and down months. Having a bad month doesn't mean you have a bad business
* Structure your business so you are getting something out of it that keeps you engaged. If your business isn't letting you do what you love doing, it's time for a change.
Learn
* Be open to feedback, ask questions, clarify
* Change as you learn
* Work with people who are supportive and help move you forward. Separate yourself from those who hold you back
