Founder, Flexiple ($3 million revenue, bootstrapped) & buildd | NIT Trichy | IIM-A | ex-Amazon & ex-Adobe
Working at Amazon, Adobe, and BCG taught me—titles mean nothing if you don't like your work. I wanted a career that: → pushed me → made me grow → let me make a real impact And maybe a startup would’ve been the right choice. But, I didn’t know that back then. In 2017, I started my own company and finally had the satisfaction I was looking for. It had become clear to me that the decision between a startup and a big company isn’t just another job decision. It shapes the direction of your entire career. And it can’t be made on a whim. So, along with my team, I spoke to 21 top engineers—from big companies & startups—to learn why they made their choices. If you’re at a crossroads, this report will help you make a confident move. Here: https://lnkd.in/gCqE-i7c #startup

80% of startups fail due to hiring mistakes. But how do you hire right? Look for these 5 qualities: 1. Passion - Find people who are passionate about your mission. They'll go the extra mile. 2. Adaptability - Startups are unpredictable. Look for candidates who can roll with the punches. 3. Grit - Startups are hard too. Look for candidates who won't give up when things get tough. 4. Team player - Your team is everything. Look for candidates who can collaborate and communicate effectively. 5. Problem solver - Startups face problems every day. Look for candidates who can think on their feet and find solutions. Remember, skills can be taught. But these qualities are innate. So, think long and hard about the kind of people you want to bring into your startup. It could be the difference between success and failure. PS. I've been super lucky to find young and talented bunch of folks who are working every day to make sure every candidate gets access to YourNextHire.ai! #hiring #dreamteam #yournexthire #startups

A lot of folks in tech talk about the value of working in startups but not enough about how to pick which companies to work at. I'm guilty of this too. All startups are not created equally. Picking which startup to join matters more than generically joining a startup. Joining the right startup at the right time can be career changing. Joining one of the many startups that will ultimately fail often doesn't do much for your career. IMO, many startups are doomed to failure (or at least a mediocre outcome) from inception. Even just eliminating these companies from the potential choices of companies to join is a good step forward. Worth noting that it's not just because of the equity. I don't consider equity to be the primary reason to join / work at a startup. People overrate the financial upside and underrate the career upside. Join startups to learn, build skills/experience, build credibility, and build network. --- Want to write more in the future about the things I wish I'd known earlier in my career about picking which companies to join.

Startups, you're not Google—stop hiring like them. At ClanX, we work with startups daily, managing 40+ tech hiring needs each month. One common problem we see is that startups often slow down their own hiring process. Instead of: - Adding too many interview rounds - Focusing on niche tech skills over problem-solving - Ignoring cultural fit and adaptability Startups should: - Hire for solid fundamentals and potential to grow - Look for practical problem-solving, not just coding tests - Value adaptability and commitment Need help with your interview process? DM me for help.

Helping founders at tech startups build a strong, engaging online presence and meet revenue targets | Preseed to Series B | B2B SaaS | Open Source | Developer Tools | Enterprise Software
When you're building a tech startup, it's tempting to… Hire marketing professionals from big, well-known companies. They have the experience and the pedigree. Yet, here's the thing: What works for a large tech company won't necessarily work for a tech startup. Startups have unique challenges and constraints that require a different approach to marketing. They need scrappy, agile marketers who: 1) can do more with less and 2) fearlessly experiment or take risks. Hiring a marketer from a big company can be a liability. They may rely on big budgets, large teams, and established processes. They may struggle to adapt to a startup's fast-paced, resource-constrained environment. And they may not have the entrepreneurial mindset that's so critical for success. So, when you're building your startup's marketing team, look for people who: -have experience with startups -are comfortable with ambiguity -have a track record of driving results with limited resources. Those are the marketers who will help you win. #startups #tech #marketingteam #entrepreneurialmindset

Since starting in product marketing in 2008, I've been with seven startups and noticed a universal challenge: finding the right marketing team. It's a tough puzzle that costs time and resources, possibly affecting a startup's success. I'm tackling this by creating a platform for founders to consult with marketing experts. It starts with a free one-hour session to address their concerns, with further help available if needed. This isn't just about hiring; it's about understanding marketing deeply before making a move. I'm excited about this journey and would genuinely appreciate your thoughts and feedback. How do you see this solving the marketing hiring puzzle for startups? #StartupHiring #MarketingSolutions #FeedbackWelcome
