Almost 2/3 of adults between the ages 45 and 59 believe their age puts them at a disadvantage when looking for work. And nearly half of all American workers believe there's age discrimination in the workplace. That's one of the reasons our attorneys Chauniqua Young and Adam Klein are proud to be co-counseling with AARP on this age discrimination class action against RTX (Raytheon), the country's second largest federal contractor.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission continues seeing a steady flow of complaints for one of the more common forms of workplace bias — age discrimination. The number of court filings the EEOC made under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act in fiscal year 2023 was more than double that of fiscal year 2022. As the EEOC steps up its efforts under the Biden administration, it's crucial that employers have in place policies and employment standards to avoid any appearances of discrimination against workers based on age. https://lnkd.in/gu_tMdGM

As an employee, it's crucial to know your rights when it comes to sexual harassment, discrimination, and any types of EEO violations. If you experience any form of sexual harassment, report it to your HR department or union steward immediately. Keep track of the events, witnesses, and any disciplinary actions taken by your employer. If no action is taken, file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and hire an EEO legal counsel. Discrimination based on race, religion, gender, and disability is illegal. Defamation of character and hazing are also forms of discrimination. If you experience any of these in the workplace, file a complaint with HR and the EEOC. The US Department of Labor (DOL) can also get involved in certain situations, such as wage discrimination. Don't let anyone violate your rights, stay informed and take action if necessary. Remember to always read through your HR handbook. Check-out www.eeoc.gov.
