The minimum wage increases on 6th April 2024. You will need to ensure you maintain pay parity, not just comply with the statutory pay increases. This means that if an employee on minimum wage is supervised by someone paid only slightly more, you may need to apply an uplift to their supervisor too, and so on, otherwise you will have a retention issue. This poses an affordability issue to many businesses. Things you can look to implement to avoid redundancies: * Reduce contractual working hours * Remove/reduce premium rates of pay * Harmonise terms and conditions of employment (if you have different contracts inherited from TUPE) The key is to consult and involve your employees. Seek their feedback on this predicament. This is our issue, how do we resolve it? #hr #humanresources #managingchange #changemanagement #minimumwage

Managing Consultant at MERJE (16 years' experience in recruiting Customer Contact jobs, specialising in Complaints, Collections, Customer Service and Business Support)
Starting in April, the National Minimum Wage is set to increase from £10.42 to £11.44 per hour. For those on a 37.5-hour working week, this translates to a basic salary of £22,308 for employees over 21. What are your thoughts on this development? Is it a much-needed boost for hardworking individuals, or do you feel it's too big a jump? The wage increase aims to reflect the rising cost of living and provide a fairer compensation for the dedication and efforts of our workforce. It's a step towards recognising the value of every individual's contribution to the workplace. Do you think this is long overdue or a timely adjustment? #MinimumWage #UKEmployment #WorkplaceFairness #CareerDevelopment #EmployeeBenefits #merje #merjefrontlinetalent

It's here! Effective July 1, 2024, the salary threshold will increase from $35,568 to $43,888 per year. It will then increase to $58,656 on Jan. 1, 2025. That represents a weekly salary from $684 to $844. It will then increase to $1,128 on Jan. 1, 2025. On Jan. 1, 2025, the rule’s new methodology takes effect, resulting in an additional increase. In addition, the rule will adjust the threshold for highly compensated employees to $132,964 effective July 1st, 2024, and to $151,164 effective January 1st, 2025. Starting July 1, 2027, salary thresholds will update every three years, by applying up-to-date wage data to determine new salary levels. And my question.....what about the federal minimum wage that has not been revised since 2009? #FLSA #HRCI #SHRM #HRG

Increase to minimum wage! Just a reminder that next month the National Living wage will increase and to check your salary is going to change to reflect this. For anyone aged 21 or over, if you are employed full time (40 hours a week) you should be getting paid no less than £23,795.20 per annum! If any employers want some advice on the change Lauren Bathan FCIPD FCMI will be happy to help! My final point- I think its great there is now no different between 21-23 year pay 💴 #employmentlaw #recruitment #payroll

𝕊𝕠, 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖𝕟’𝕥 𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕤𝕒𝕝𝕒𝕣𝕪? ◼ While the current minimum wage will benefit employees, the reality is that many employers will find it hard to keep up with these changes because of the Rising costs of living and production. ◼ Businesses are already facing difficult and the consideration of potential retrenchments is at heart. ◼ The truth is 70k minimum wage is nothing compared to cost of things, but our economy is struggling right now… if we force all employers to comply, most people will be out of jobs ◼ If your salary hasn’t been increased yet, try to be patient and understand the challenges employers are facing especially if you are working for a growing organization. ◼ Open communication and mutual support can go a long way in navigating these tough times together. ◼ This doesn't apply to big organization that have the capacity.. --------------------------------------- #MinimumWage #SalaryIncrease #EmployeeWellbeing #EmployerChallenges #CostOfLiving #WorkplaceRealities #PatiencePays #JobSecurity #WorkplaceSupport #NavigatingChange

Yes you read that correctly, NMW/NLW rates for 2025! Hot on the heels of yesterdays new National Minimum Wage rate increases, today the Low Pay Commission (LPC) Consultation 2024 was published (https://lnkd.in/eMYbHTec). The remit which has been given to the LPC is “to maintain the bite at two-thirds of median earnings and protect progress made to end low hourly pay for this group, without recommending any further revisions to the age threshold.” Currently this would estimate that the rate required to meet this aim would be in the range of £11.61 and £12.18, with a central estimate of £11.89. #NMW #Nationalminimumwage #Nationallivingwage #Payroll #HR
