The corporate hospital message is a signal. A signal that times have indeed changed in medicine. Brand over people wins for the 'system.' Some call the words, or lack thereof, toxic and brash. Gone are the days when CEOs share the journey of the departed leader and the legacy they leave behind. No dignified accolades, gratitude, or empty well wishes for the future. Perhaps Dr. Meyer had outgrown his role, and it was time for a change. Perhaps Dr. Meyer was a respectful voice of dissent that was unwelcome in the newer regime. Perhaps Dr. Meyer will be free to make a difference for care teams and patients with his next opportunity. Perhaps we will never know the truth. Silence is golden in corporate healthcare, otherwise, you're out. Words matter, as do actions. 🔥 The link to Dr. Meyer's journey at Mass General Brigham is in the comments. #accountability #transparency #patientadvocacy #moralinjury #physicianwellness #exitstrategy #healthcareonlinkedin #hospitals

Reflecting on a key insight from our CEO, Mark McKinney, from his enlightening blog post titled "There's No Monopoly on Good Ideas," it's clear that collaboration stands at the core of our values. https://lnkd.in/ewnbQxpr As we advance into 2024, the spirit of collaboration continues to be the driving force behind our mission and our projects. Here's a glimpse into how we are putting teamwork into action: • Collaborating with Ellenville Regional Hospital, we're tackling the urgent issue of opioid overdose risk, focusing on enhancing community health and safety. • In partnership with Healthix, we're pioneering efforts to provide broader access to health records for New Yorkers, empowering them with critical health information. • Working alongside Healthy Alliance, we're fortifying our provider community, building essential connections to support patients with social needs. These initiatives are a testament to our dedication to collaborative innovation, demonstrating that collective efforts can lead to unparalleled achievements. #Collaboration #Innovation #Healthcare

Director of Laredo Public Health, Dr. Richard Chamberlain, is honored to speak at the upcoming 2024 Healthier Texas Summit in October. He will share insights on #equitable public health communication and #reducing the gap between #research and #community action. Public health #communication plays a vital role in #advancing health equity in communities by ensuring everyone has access to relevant health #information, #resources, #services, and pathways to co-creation and ownership. Equitable public health communication ensures health information is: (1) #accessible to everyone with plain language, #culturally appropriate messaging, and delivery, (2) accurate and #person-centered, and (3) #action-oriented to (re)build and #strengthen community #capacity, #resilience, and #trust. The opportunity to present at this prestigious summit emphasizes the significance of Laredo Public Health's work and its dedication to improving the outcomes of public health. #LaredoPublicHealth #HealthierTexasSummit

Project Manager, Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Health; Author of "Health Care of a Thousand Slights" (Winter 2020)
Grateful to have heard from some great minds - Eboné Carrington, Gbenga Ogedegbe, MD, MPH, FACP, and Thomas D'Aunno -- at NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service's annual #KovnerBehrman Forum. It was great to see one of my favorite professors in action alongside one of my best friends from grad school Dennis Grishin. Some key insights: 🏥 While referring the most vulnerable patients to other agencies for #SDOH needs has value, the trusting #patientprovider relationship is key. ⚖ Health systems have to strike a balance between relying on #communitybasedorganizations and providing these services themselves, which may cause #missiondrift. 💲 Quote from Dr. Ogedegbe: "Evidence-based medicine is only as good as the resources we invest in them." 🤝 Investing in training #communityhealthworkers will be critical as we rely on them to not just strengthen relationships between the community and the health system, but also shift non-clinical tasks away from providers. 👍 Quote from moderator Lauren A Taylor: "What we decide is possible or not possible determines our managerial prescriptions."

Executive VP and Chief Physician Executive, Houston Methodist. President and Chief Executive Officer, Houston Methodist Physician Organization Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology Weill Cornell Medical College
I'm thrilled to give a big shoutout to our incredible physicians at Houston Methodist who participated in tonight's book club discussion on "Influence" by Robert Cialdini. It was inspiring to witness our wonderful physicians engage with such valuable insights into human behavior and decision-making. Tonight's discussion touched on several key principles from the book, including: Reciprocity (how people feel obliged to repay favors), Commitment and Consistency (how we might encourage patients to commit to their health goals), Social Proof (how to avoid group-think), Authority (how to leverage our expertise and credibility as healthcare professionals to enhance trust in science), Liking (how to build rapport and connections with patients and colleagues), Scarcity (how to ethically communicate the value and availability of healthcare services). Let's use our influence ethically to enhance healthcare for ALL, and make this world a better place. #BookClub #LeadingMedicine #Influence
