This is Canon 10 Noodle Shock, a Cambodian restaurant in Long Beach, CA, one of the oldest noodle restaurants in the United States. And this is Moe, the owner. He's going to be telling me today how he's taking his family's business to the next level using technology, and he's going to be teaching me how to make the recipes that have made his family's restaurant so successful in Long Beach. And apparently, Moe actually has a cooking challenge for us at the end. I guarantee you, you will not win. Wow, this is not good, Adam. How to get started? If you are, let's do it. For those of you watching, most signed up for owner com nine months ago, but I'm just meeting him today because I wanted to learn about his cuisine after seeing all of the amazing customer feedback and reviews that he's gotten and using our platform. So I'm so excited to be here with you and I'm excited to share. So today we're going to be making my parents famous dry noodles. First step, putting the rice noodles into the bowl. We're having a lot of rice noodles to do this Next step would be blanching the noodles. Make sure the water is boiling. We're going to cook this for about 10 to 15 seconds and you want. All the water to drip down just like that. OK, so you go just like that. So the next step will be putting our garlic oil into the bowl. That was nice garlic oil spread that was like Salt Bay. And then our famous soy sauce blend that my mom created, Preserve cabbages just for extra flavor. And then we're going to take the tongs and we're just going to mix it up just like that. You're a very good teacher of making noodles. I've done this for over 20 years, so it comes natural. Yeah, you're, you're struggling there. You make it look so easy. No, I'm good. I'm good. So our popular dish is the dry noodles. My father's favorite dish is the Monopoly noodle that has the innards, pork and shrimp. But I realize some people don't like that. So what I did was I created the most special and includes pork and meatballs without the innards. Maybe that's something you would like 100%. So these are the sliced pork and then the ground pork on top of that. So the meatballs are right here in the soup and that's the most special. OK, looks like you workout, so you might want more gains, right? Yes, all the the ground meat and now the meatballs. OK, there we go, protein bowl. You're gonna really enjoy it. Ohh, this is a family business, right? Yeah. So I worked together with two of my sisters and three of my brothers. Before we sit down to cook the next dish, let's sit down and talk about how you're taking your restaurant to the next level online. Would love to start with how it was that you found your way into this business and what this means to you personally. This business means a lot. My parents started this business. They came from Cambodia, you know, right after the war. My parents wanted to help heal the community by creating dishes from Cambodia that are authentic. You know, that brings that home feel. When I see everyone's eating together and they're smiling, there's a lot of positive energy. It makes me realize that it's really all about the people and just making sure, like. We take care of them, not just our customers, but our teammates too as well. I love that you mentioned you had a few questions you wanted to ask me, so would love to start with those. So, you know, for me, you know, personally, like I don't work in house, I work more on the business. So I do like the the, the marketing on social media. What are some things that restaurants need to have to continue staying in business and growing? There's a lot of restaurant owners think that the right way to grow online is to post more frequently on Instagram or Facebook. But the problem with doing it that way is that it's. Not very measurable. And those people that are following the page aren't necessarily people that are going to become customers. So what I recommend doing instead of trying to get big on social media is showing up at the top of Google. Yeah. And so the key is showing up where customers are so that they click into your website and then making sure that you have a website that is going to be effective at driving a website visitor into a new customer. Well, that's that's some great insight right there. That can help us a lot. And I'd love to learn more from your perspective what it was. That made you open to trying a solution like owner com before? Back then, I didn't really see the problem. I didn't really think we had a problem. Once I learned more about what service you guys provide, I realized that we do need to fix our website. We do need to create an experience for the customers that is convenient for them. You guys help made me aware of that. And has it worked? How have you been able to provide that sense of ease and comfort that's led to the increase in sales? Yes, with your help. Thank you. That's awesome. Can you talk about the huge sales increase that you've seen? I saw at the beginning from six months ago to now, you've increased your sales by 200 using that higher conversion website. Any context you could share on the sales increase or the customer feedback that you've heard would be great. We're getting more people enrolling into the e-mail list because of the reward system that you guys created. Because of how simple and easy and convenient the platform is, customers are transitioning from using delivery apps to using our apps. At the end of the day, you know, we do need to make profit and delivery companies are taking a big chunk of that, you know, and you guys are helping, saving US money for sure. That's awesome. Yeah. Can you talk about the five star rating that you now have on the App Store with your own apps that now regulars? They don't even have to, like, find a website every time, which is inconvenient. They can now just have the Noodle Shack app on their phone, one tap to reorder. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. I feel cooler with the app, you know, with the SMS texting, with these new technologies that you guys provide with the five. More reviews coming from the app. We did have an increased flow of traffic thanks to how you guys designed the app and made it so simple and easy to use it. It helped out a lot for sure. I want to show you just how smooth it is to order from your app now. So you'll notice that when we visit your website for the first time on a mobile device, there's this banner across the bottom that says get the best experience on our mobile app, save time, earn rewards, get notified about new deals and more. Telling customers why they should download the app. When customers click the Noodle Shack app, they're right into your app based. Experience let's say we want to order the thing that we go to as a regular. All we do is we click the pork rice porridge large size add item. Just like that, we've added that item. And let's also add the fish noodle soup that you guys are known for. Add item there. We've got two items in our cart now. Now let's time how long it takes us to go from 2 items in our cart to order placed. All we do is we click proceed to checkout, click check out again. All of our details are prefilled. Then we just click pay and boom, it tells the gas the order will be ready. It'll send the push notification. When that order is complete, the guest also sees that they've earned loyalty points that they can use for free items in order to incentivize continued direct ordering. We appreciate that too. You know, you guys help us get off the ground digitally really quick. What advice would you give to other restaurant owners that are considering maybe working with owner.com to increase online sales or save money and fees? What would you tell them working with owner. com? That will probably be the main advice. If you want your business to have a great digital experience, go with owner. So MO, you said you had a cooking. Fun for us, right? Yeah. Are you hungry? Yes, I'm always hungry. I wanna show you how to make one more dish. Ohh. Let's do it. Adam, our next session we're going to make is the Chaqui. It's the Chinese donut. Before we start, I need to pause you. I thought this was like the most brilliant restaurant merge because it is saying send nudes but spelled noodles. As a restaurant marketing nerd, I respect it and I am now ready to make some of the Chinese Donuts. We're going to grab the dough. So here's the dough bag. So this check why it's our most popular fried bread. First step, we will take the dough out of the bag and get some flour here, put that all around the dough. We're going to stretch out the dough. People will cut that right down the middle. We might need to use some AI to put my face on your body while you make the Shaquan pretentious my scale. Alright, so now we're going to stretch the dough. You want to make sure the thickness of the dough is consistent. You make it look so easy, but I can tell that was not an easy move. We gotta cut the dough about an inch in width all the way down. We gotta take the water and we're going to place that on top of the second piece of dough. And you're going to do it every other dough. And then we're going to place each piece on top of the next, just like that. And then I will just press it with the other end of the chopstick just like that. The next step will be stretching it into the oil. Be prepared to be amazed by my incredible baking skills over here. Why have a challenge? We can team up. I can be the chopstick water person and you can be the stretch the dough and cut it perfectly person. You think you have it until it sticks to your glove as you go on to the next one. Ohh. Come on. OK, it's in. So, Adam, I'm gonna bring my sister in and she's going to explain to you the challenge. Let's bring her in. Hi guys, I'm Neuron Molester. Hey, Neuron. I'm Adam. What are we doing today? So each of you are gonna have 5 minutes and we're gonna see who can make as much equity as possible. Let's. Chai has been golden brown, fluffy, crunchy, not too doughy. And if it turns out really bad, I gotta throw it out. I think I'm down. But it's not a challenge without prizes. So what are the prizes for this challenge? So Adam, if you win, I'm gonna name a specific bowl in your honor, the Adam special. If you win, we'll use the promotions feature. An e-mail and text message marketing feature to drive your sales sky high this weekend by giving your customers $1000 worth of free delivery. Alright, Adam, that's a great deal, but you're going down. Let's do this. All right, Adam, we're gonna have you go first. OK, Challenge accepted. We have two evenly cut out dough. As soon as you're done, I'll fry the dough for you so you won't have to talk to each other. We'll count at the end and see who wins. Ready. Set. Go. You're doing a good job, Adam. Thank you. That's really good. I appreciate your emotional support. Every other piece of chikai gets the. Water treatment. I guess you were listening. Ohh. Yeah. You look kind of stressed. Or are you OK? The stakes are high, MO. And now they're all stuck together. OK, come on. 3/2 and 1/5. Pretty good looking pieces. No, it's your turn. Let's do this to make it a little more fair, given that he's got 20 years of practice. And give him 4 minutes rather than 5 minutes. I could do it in three. Ohh. Alright guys. OK. Ready, set, go. Ohh, snap. He's moving fast. Ohh, the flip wow, look at those thumbs move. This is not good. We might need to take this chopstick water. I tried to cheat, tried to throw off his technique, but Moe knows the way of the chikai 5 four. Alright, you did it. I'll start with Adams. It's floating. It's not too bad for your first time. They look like dog bones, but perfect. I'm gonna throw in rows. Yeah, it's just a staple in our menu. You just can't go without chikai while eating a bowl of noodles or rice porridge. What is it about the chikai that makes the noodles or rice porridge taste better? Soaks up all of the rich flavors. Ohh. So once you take a bite of the Chai, you're taking a bite of the soup as well? Quite a list of things. I don't think your chakra would soak up any flavor. Let's take Adams out. Delicious. Delicious for dogs. Dogs have stronger taste than human smell. So you just dissed yourself. OK, So, Adam, I'm gonna try your dough. So let's see the pool test. OK. OK. Ohh, I'll count that, it's one boom. Actually, no, it stopped right there. So that don't count those .7. Yeah .7 is great, but. OK, I'll take it. Ohh, yeah, OK. Ah, OK, we lost that one. I'll take it. That looks like a a baguette for Mule. Let's see how yours turned out. Ready. OK, this one's a good pool. There you go. This is 2. OK, alright, this is good. Ohh, that is three. Wow, that's a winner right there. That's definitely 4. Alright, so get this 4. Four and 3.7. It's out there on that, Adam. Alright, well, the good news is your sales are gonna go crazy this weekend when we send out that promotion that we're sponsoring for you, $1000 worth of free delivery. And we'll let your customers know with your website, your app, you're emailing your text message marketing. No work on your part, but you'll see that big jump as your customers realize that they can order delivery from you entirely for free. So thank you for taking the time mowing Neuron. I've loved meeting you and getting to learn from you and seeing why so many people love the noodle shack here in Long Beach. Definitely had a lot of fun. Appreciate you and your. Team coming here, you know me and my sister, we get along so well. She's she's one of my best friends. So I enjoy her having her and I can see the love that you guys have in operating this place and I'm sure that your parents would be so proud and how you're taking care of it and the amazing experiences you're creating for customers. It's incredible. So thank you for taking the time. So I'm trying some tequila for the first time seeing why the noodle shack is so famous for this dish. I got it. It's so good. It's hard on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. It really is good. Holy everybody, good piece.
